Stalemate on the cards on Merseyside

Sunday’s tie at the Hill Dickinson Stadium takes centre stage in front of the Sky cameras, but this may not be one for the neutrals.

The hosts have the seventh-best home record in the Premier League so far, with the Toffees picking up eight points in four games.

David Moyes’ side are yet to lose at home and they have recorded impressive victories over Brighton and Crystal Palace, while they shared the points with Aston Villa and West Ham.

Everton fans will have been worried about relocating from Goodison Park, but their new ground has been a fortress so far. It will need to have the same effect on Sunday when Spurs visit, as Thomas Frank’s troops have the best away record in the Premier League.

The Lilywhites have won 10 points from four away matches, including a 2-0 win away at title challengers Manchester City.

Frank’s team have been well organised and they have only conceded three away goals; only Arsenal and Newcastle have let in fewer.

The form of both points to two teams butting heads all game and with both teams set up to defend first, this looks like it will end in a draw.

Passionate battle to be expected

Moyes and Frank deserve tremendous credit for their team’s starts to the season and they have certainly done the basics right.

Everton have impressed as they have played most of the season without centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, who is one of the first names on the team sheet when fit.

The Toffees’ success has come down to organisation and a little bit of fight too, as they have picked up 20 yellow cards in eight games this season. That record is tied with Bournemouth and only Brighton have collected more.

Tottenham are not too far behind them with 17 picked up under Frank and in order to pick up a positive result, both teams will be happy to concede cheap free-kicks to stop the momentum of the other team.

Forwards to take centre stage

Everton playmaker Iliman Ndiaye has carried on from last season with his form in the final third and he remains the main dangerman on Merseyside.

The arrival of Jack Grealish has taken some of the workload away from Ndiaye and he has managed to score three goals from only six shots this season.

Ndiaye has been deadly in the final third, with five of his six shots hitting the target. He has created 13 chances in eight games and he has what it takes to have a big say in Sunday’s result.

Mohammed Kudus has the same influence for Spurs, but for this week’s game, he is the prime target for a bet on fouls.

The Ghanian leads the way for Spurs in the fouls conceded category and he has picked up 14 fouls in eight games so far.

With a close match expected, a 1-1 draw appeals this week in the correct score market.

Both teams have scored in four of the last five fixtures between the pair and both sides have enough firepower to find the back of the net.
