Toffees to pile more pressure on Hammers
Seven places and four points separate Everton and West Ham ahead of tonight’s clash, with the Toffees settling in well at their new home.
David Moyes’ side have picked up four points from their first two outings at Hill Dickinson Stadium, beating Brighton and drawing with Aston Villa. More importantly, they are yet to concede a goal at their new ground, a record they’ll be eager to protect against a struggling Hammers outfit.
West Ham have endured a miserable start, losing four of their opening five matches and owning the league’s worst defensive record with 13 goals conceded.
Meetings between these two were cagey last season, producing just two goals in total and ending in a 1-1 draw here. Another low-scoring battle could well be on the cards.

Hosts can take second-half spoils
West Ham’s matches have been full of first-half action this season, with 13 of the 18 goals across their opening five fixtures arriving before the break.
Everton’s games have told a different story, with almost half of the 11 goals they’ve been involved in coming after half-time, including their consolation in last weekend’s Merseyside derby at Anfield.
The second half has also been decisive when these two sides have met recently. Across their last four clashes, each team has one win alongside two draws, and the goals have tended to come late.
Both encounters last season saw their scoring limited to after the break, while all five goals in their 2023-24 meetings also arrived in the second half.

Wingers hold the key for Everton
Everton’s standout performers this season have been their wide men, Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye.
On-loan Grealish has hit the ground running, sitting top of the Premier League assist charts with four in his first five appearances, including a brace of assists in the home victory over Brighton.
Ndiaye has been equally influential, leading the league in Duels Won (41) and netting the first competitive goal at Everton’s new stadium. His direct running and strength could cause serious problems for West Ham’s left-back El Hadji Diouf, who is expected to start. The Senegalese defender was booked in last weekend’s loss to Crystal Palace and looks a strong candidate for another caution here.
Set pieces may also play a big role. West Ham have looked vulnerable when defending corners this season, something David Moyes’ side will be well aware of. Everton dominated Villa 10-3 in the corner count in their last home outing, and a similar tally wouldn’t be a surprise on Monday night.
