Aintree betting tips
12.55 Aintree – Chasing Fire
It’s kind of hard to stop the Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen combination at the moment, as the pair have been absolutely flying in the last couple of weeks. They are represented by Chasing Fire here and the lightly raced eight-year-old arrives in good form.
This son of Maxios has only had eight starts over hurdles, four of which he has won. The most recent of those victories came in a Class 2 at Perth back in September and he comfortably got the better of the very smart chaser The Real Whacker that day.
Patient tactics were employed to great effect and Sean Bowen held him up in the early stages, before delivering a late challenge and scoring by three-and-a-half lengths. The handicapper has responded with a 5lb rise but he looks capable of defying that.
A similar effort could well be enough as he had plenty in hand that day and this looks like a good opportunity to follow up.

1.30 Aintree – Andy Amo
Last season was a big one for the Rebecca Curtis yard and Andy Amo progressed nicely throughout the campaign. He was a narrow winner of a Uttoxeter maiden hurdle on New Years’ Eve and improved again when switched to handicaps next time.
The six-year-old won a Class 3 event at Bangor-on-Dee in good style in March, despite the fact that he didn’t jump with much fluency throughout. Still managing to win by five lengths, the third has boosted the form by winning since.
A trip to Fairyhouse then followed and he ran in a very competitive Listed novice handicap, finishing second by half-a-length. Fences could facilitate further improvement this year and if that is the case, he should be capable of running a big race here.

2.40 Aintree – Johnnywho
Johnnywho showed some potential as a novice hurdler two seasons ago and wasn’t beaten far when finishing fourth in the Challow Hurdle. Very carefully campaigned during his novice chase campaign, it was fairly obvious that connections had a big target in mind.
That proved to be the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival, where he ran an absolute cracker to finish second by a neck. He looked like the winner approaching the second-last but Daily Present just about managed to outstay the son of Califet.
It was a respectable effort when fifth in the Irish Grand National and a stamina-zapping 2m5f could be right up his street. You can never guarantee that a horse will take to the National fences before they try but this horse is an obvious contender, provided he gets round.
