United may concede in victory at Blundell Park
Manchester United head to Grimsby in the second round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday and in an ideal world visiting manager Ruben Amorim would probably like to make wholesale changes for a tie against League Two opponents.
However, Amorim doesn’t have that luxury right now and some of his big-money summer recruits are likely to be involved from the off as he bids to get his frontline firing after a pair of underwhelming attacking displays.
Benjamin Sesko could be handed a full debut and Matheus Cunha may keep his starting spot. There will be a few changes at the back and Andre Onana may return in goal but Amorim should name a side with more than enough quality to secure a win as United bid for their first victory of the season, although a Grimsby consolation effort could be on the cards.
Somewhat incredibly, this is the first meeting between these two clubs since Grimsby were relegated from the old First Division way back in 1948. This is a massive occasion for the League Two club, who have spent seven of the last 15 seasons outside of the Football League, and they will be keen to make an impact even if avoiding defeat looks too big of an ask.
Grimsby have made a strong start to the season and are unbeaten in six games across all competitions, scoring 13 goals in the process. The Mariners will continue to push forward even if they are a few goals behind and they can get on the scoresheet against a side that have conceded in seven of their last eight competitive games.

Fernandes can open the scoring
There is a bit of guesswork involved here but Bruno Fernandes may be pushed higher up the pitch to accommodate a first appearance of the season for Kobbie Mainoo.

Goals and shots on target form ambitious 28/1 bet builder
