Updated on

Get three Ireland vs France predictions and betting tips from our rugby union expert, before Saturday’s 14:15 Six Nations clash (8/03/2025).

With the Triple Crown already in the bag after victories over England, Scotland and Wales, the Irish will continue their quest for a Grand Slam when they host France at the Aviva Stadium.

A decisive game between the two heavyweights in the Six Nations in recent years, more fireworks are expected when Ireland and France cross swords in Dublin this weekend.

Irish can edge titanic tussle

The top two sides in the northern hemisphere clash in Saturday’s encounter in Dublin and hosts Ireland look capable of just edging this one at the Aviva Stadium.

Ireland have had the upper hand on France over the last couple of years, winning 32-19 over Les Bleus in Dublin in 2023, before an impressive 38-17 win over the French at the Stade de France last season.

Fabien Galthie’s side have already slipped up on the road in the Six Nations this year, with an abundance of handling errors costing them in a 26-25 defeat to England at Twickenham.

Ireland were able to rest a number of key players in their 27-18 win over Wales last time out and a fresher Irish side should overcome the handicap on Saturday.

Ireland vs France Tip 1: Ireland -2.5 handicap @ 101/100 with bet365

France to make strong start

Ireland have been guilty of being slightly sluggish out of the gate at times in this Six Nations campaign and they trailed both England and Wales at half-time.

France will try to capitalise on that recent trend and throw all they have at Ireland to try to knock the hosts off their stride and also attempt to quieten the home crowd.

There’s certainly value to be had with siding France to be leading at the break and Ireland to come back and win the showdown in Dublin.

Ireland should have superior fitness and with their 6-2 split of forwards and backs on the bench, the Irish can have the power up front to come back and claim what would be a vital victory and huge step towards another Grand Slam.

Ireland vs France Tip 2: Double Result – France-Ireland @ 6/1 with bet365

Sheehan to power over

While Ireland have threats in their back division, the tries could come from the pack for Ireland this weekend.

Dan Sheehan has an impressive tryscoring record at Test level, scoring 11 times in 31 appearances for his country, 22 of those as a starter.

Sheehan, who has already scored against England in this Six Nations, was on the scoresheet with a try against France in their last meeting and is good value to go over for another on Saturday.

Ireland vs France Tip 3: Dan Sheehan anytime tryscorer @ 13/8 with bet365
