Jude Bellingham gets too emotional
After shining in England’s opening game against Serbia in which he scored the only goal of the game Bellingham has flattered to deceive in the Denmark and Slovenia games where he has been deployed as a number ten. With Foden on the left side and his tendency to drift into the same central pocket, Bellingham has had a tougher time having an impact on the game. Parker is of the belief that the England star has struggled to keep his emotions contained and the media clamour for Bellingham to be England’s saviour is getting to him.
“I have noticed that Jude Bellingham has seemed very, very frustrated. It’s the same in every game with him.
“He gets too emotional. Far too emotional. He has taken on what the press has been writing about him, but he should concentrate more about his performances. He has been disappearing in big parts of all games.
“It has been mentioned that he should be the one winning the trophy for England, but to be honest, the press should talk about the team and not just him.”
The expectations on Bellingham are too high
Bellingham has enjoyed a fine debut season in the white of Real Madrid having won the league and Champions League under the tutelage of Carlo Ancelloti. Bellingham scored 23 goals in total last season for Madrid and the expectations for Euros would have been for him to bring that form to the international stage but Parker argues far too much pressure is being placed on such young shoulders.
“Because of what Real Madrid and Bellingham have done, the expectations are so big for him, but this is not club football. This is national team football.
“Expectations are pushed too much on him, and the press and the fans keeps mentioning he has an old head on his shoulder, but we have to remember he is still a very young lad.
“We should still treat him as a young lad, so we shouldn’t put this on him and believe he is so mature. It is ridiculous.”

Bellingham’s petulance is England’s biggest concern
The fanfare around Bellingham after his brilliant season at Madrid has led to songs being made in his name and Adidas using him to lead their Euro 2024 promotional campaign. Having essentially become the new leading face of Adidas, PR and public adoration come alongside this as does more scrutiny of on the field behaviour and Parker has noticed a petulance creeping into Bellingham’s game.
“Is he handling it very well? I don’t think so. Not at this moment in time. The England fans are singing his name all the time, which is too much. He is frustrated because he thinks he can win the games on his own, but he should rather focus on helping his teammates.
“Bellingham is England’s biggest concern right now. Bellingham has looked ill disciplined, throwing himself to the floor and constantly chasing the referee. He is playing football like he is playing in a school yard.
“He has been petulant. Too much importance has been given to him far too early. He can sound mature and conduct himself well in interviews, but this is about football. He wants to be a hero, which is a big, big problem.”
