Whites can unsettle their visitors
Leeds United fans would have looked at their winter fixtures and gulped when the list was released in the summer, but the reality is a little different.
The Whites were handed consecutive fixtures against Aston Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool and, after a 2-1 defeat to the Villans at home, speculation started to suggest Daniel Farke’s days were numbered at Elland Road.
A switch to a 3-5-2 formation in the second half against City produced an inspired response and Farke copied the formula to mastermind a 3-1 success over Chelsea on Wednesday.
Liverpool fans would have viewed this as a foregone conclusion in pre-season, but Arne Slot’s side were held to a 1-1 draw by Sunderland in midweek.
The Reds have lost five of their last seven away games and they face a Leeds side who have only lost two of their seven home fixtures.
Leeds have got momentum behind them and their home fans will make Liverpool as uncomfortable as possible in what could be another big night for Farke.

Leeds forwards to give Konate problems
Liverpool’s problems this season have been mainly down to individual errors and centre-back Ibrahima Konate has come under scrutiny on several occasions.
The defender has conceded 18 fouls in total this season, but half of those have come in his last five appearances.
Leeds’ new formation has got the best out of Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who have both used their physical strength to cause problems.
Between the pair of them they won four fouls against Chelsea and Konate will struggle to avoid trouble inside a hostile Elland Road, although the Whites pair are both injury doubts.

Leeds will need to dig in on home soil
Leeds will hope to use Elland Road as a fortress this season, but Farke’s men have now conceded eight goals at home in seven matches. That is not a terrible return, but the Whites have shipped goals in 13 of their 15 games.
Keeping clean sheets has been a real issue for Leeds, so Liverpool should have some joy in front of goal. Despite their poor form on the road, the Reds have netted in six of their seven away contests.
Leeds midfielder Ethan Ampadu should be the anchor in their team, with the club captain aiming to protect his back three at all costs. The Wales international is known as a tough tackler and he may find himself in trouble in what will be another passionate affair.
Ampadu has conceded 18 fouls this season, and he has only played in two games where he has not conceded a foul.
With Liverpool’s talented midfield set to push Leeds all the way, Ampadu will do well to not go in the referee’s book.
Whites striker Nmecha has only registered eight shots on target this season, but six of them have come in his last five appearances and he has not played 90 minutes in any of those matches.
