Foxes should ease past cash-strapped Owls
Having been relegated from the Premier League last season, falling 13 points short of survival, Leicester have turned to former QPR head coach Marti Cifuentes to arrest their slump and he starts with a home showdown against Sheffield Wednesday.
A new era begins without Jamie Vardy and, while reinforcements have been hard to come by, there should still be enough talent in the squad to suggest they can figure in the promotion picture.
And this should be the ideal starting point for Leicester as they try to rebuild confidence against the favourites for Championship relegation.
The Owls have a transfer embargo in place so have been unable to strengthen and have been severely weakened by the departures of Djeidi Gassama, Josh Windass, Michael Smith and Akin Famewo.
Leicester scored only 33 times in 38 Premier League fixtures last season and 14 of those came from Vardy and Brighton loanee Facundo Buonanotte, neither of whom are at the King Power Stadium for this Championship campaign.
So the Foxes may settle for a low-scoring win over Wednesday, who won only four of their final 12 away games last term and are going to endure a season of struggle.

Ayew can lead from the front
Jordan Ayew was one of Leicester’s most consistent performers last season, having scored five goals in 19 Premier League starts which included strikes against Chelsea and Liverpool.
Having been a Premier League player for nine years, this is the lowest level that Ayew has played at for some time and there is no reason why he won’t continue to thrive.
The 33-year-old scored the opening goal in a 2-0 friendly success over Fiorentina last weekend and he led the line on that occasion, which could be an option available to Cifuentes as he bids to hit the ground running.

Mavididi capable of producing some magic
When Leicester clinched the Championship title two seasons ago, Stephy Mavididi played a key role with 12 goals and six assists in 46 appearances and he could make hay again with his sights lowered.
The quick and skilful winger can cause plenty of problems for a vulnerable Wednesday and makes an appeal to grab another Foxes goal contribution.
It is hard to see where Wednesday’s threat is going to come from, especially with their three top scorers from last season – Windass, Gassama and Smith – having moved on, and they are unlikely to get on the scoresheet.
Finally, centre-back Di’Shon Bernard looks a leading card candidate. The Jamaica international was sidelined through injury from February onwards, but his 31 appearances to that point had featured seven yellow cards and two reds and his discipline can be questioned.
