Liverpool can extend home record
A win at Manchester City on Sunday extended Liverpool’s lead at the top to 11 points, but the big games keep coming with Newcastle United set to visit Merseyside.
The Magpies will have their sights set on Champions League football next season after moving up to fifth following their 4-3 home success over Nottingham Forest.
The hosts go into the clash unbeaten in 17 games in all competitions at Anfield, with their only home defeat coming against Forest back in September.
It’s worth noting though that both teams have scored in each of their last five league home matches, with Fulham, Leicester, Man Utd, Ipswich and Wolves all getting on the scoresheet.
Newcastle had won four away league games on the spin prior to their 4-0 defeat at the Etihad, scoring 11 goals in the previous four matches on the road.
You have to go back to December 2015 for the Magpies last victory over the Reds, while their last win at Anfield came way back in 1994.
Goals look to be on the agenda on Wednesday night, with 15 scored in the last three meetings, which includes the 3-3 draw at St James’ Park in February.

Gakpo has Newcastle history
The victory at the Etihad will have taken a lot out of the Liverpool players, so Arne Slot could freshen things up for Wednesday’s match.
The Dutchman went with a different formation, with Dominic Szoboszlai playing further forward and supporting Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah.
Having been frustrated by Darwin Nunez’s recent displays, Slot will have been pleased to have Cody Gakpo back fit and available.
The Dutchman is on course for his best goalscoring season, with nine league strikes to his name, despite struggling for regular game time at the start of the campaign.
Gakpo, who came on as a second-half substitute at City, should be fresh to play a big part on Wednesday and has a decent record against the Magpies.
The 25-year-old has scored twice in the last four meetings between the sides, including in last season’s 4-2 win for the Reds in this fixture.
Liverpool vs Newcastle Tip 2: Cody Gakpo – Anytime Goalscorer @ 7/4 with bet365
Magpies could target Liverpool’s right side
Trent Alexander-Arnold faced his busiest day of the season on Sunday, as City and Jeremy Doku targeted the England international.
That is something Newcastle could look to do again, with Anthony Gordon expected to start on the left wing for the visitors.
Gordon, as a former Everton player and a boyhood Liverpool fan, will be desperate to shine at Anfield and Alexander-Arnold will need to be on top of his game.
With Joelinton out injured until March, Bruno Guimaraes has been tasked with trying to control games from midfield.
The Brazilian has been yellow carded four times this season and was cautioned in this fixture last season.
