City to get back on track
Following a frustrating goalless draw at Sunderland in midweek, Manchester City look capable of getting back to winning ways when they host Chelsea on Sunday.
There were more than a few eyebrows raised by the news on New Year’s Day that manager Enzo Maresca and Chelsea had parted ways following what was an underwhelming end to 2025 for the west London outfit.
The Blues will work quickly to bring in a replacement but whoever is in the away dugout on Sunday, it’s hardly the best preparation ahead of a big Premier League clash like this one.
With Chelsea winless in their last three games and City unbeaten in their last seven home games in all competitions against the Blues, with six wins and one draw in that time, another victory for Pep Guardiola’s side looks to be on the cards here.
City have not conceded in their last three home games and the hosts are good value to shut out Chelsea this weekend.
Expect goals to be at a premium
With Chelsea tipped to be kept off the scoresheet, a game with one or two goals might well decide the outcome in Manchester on Sunday.
Under 2.5 total goals would have landed in three of the last four competitive meetings between these teams and that trend might well continue this weekend.
City have shown how they can limit the opposition in the final third in recent weeks at the Etihad Stadium and a game with under three goals appeals here.
Haaland, Foden and Fernandez feature in bet builder
Looking at a bet builder, the first selection is for City striker Erling Haaland to get back to his goalscoring ways on Sunday.
The Norwegian has been a thorn in Chelsea’s side previously, scoring four times in six games against the Blues.
After a frustrating night at the Stadium of Light on Thursday, Haaland will be determined to get back amongst the goals and he’s tipped to score his 20th Premier League goal of the season on Sunday.
While Haaland has had the most shots of any player in the league this season, teammate Phil Foden is the second-highest City player in the standings.
Having 25 shots at goal already this term, the England international is backed to have at least one effort on target here.
Completing this three-fold bet builder, Enzo Fernandez is tipped to pick up a booking in this clash at the Etihad.
The Argentine will be missing Moises Caicedo next to him in the middle of the park, with the Ecuadorian suspended for this game.
Without enforcer Caicedo beside him, Fernandez might have to do more of the dirty work for Chelsea and he’s backed to earn his fourth yellow card in the Premier League this season on Sunday.
