Manchester City vs Manchester United Betting Tips
Our betting expert has three Manchester City vs Manchester United tips for Sunday’s Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium. (kick-off 4.30pm). Scroll down for the analysis behind his selections.
- Manchester City to win and both teams to score @ 21/10
- Phil Foden to score at any time @ 15/8
- Bet builder – Over 2.5 goals, Tijjani Reijnders to have a shot and Rodri to be shown a card @ 15/2
City to win back-and-forth affair
It has been some time since a Manchester derby arrived with both sides under pressure, but that is the case as Pep Guardiola’s City and Ruben Amorim’s United endure stuttering starts to the season.
City have lost two of their opening three league fixtures, while United have managed just four points and were embarrassed in the EFL Cup by Grimsby.
The champions remain vulnerable on the counter, as shown in defeats to Tottenham and Brighton, and injuries to Rayan Cherki, Omar Marmoush and Mateo Kovacic have stretched Guardiola’s options. Even so, they should have enough to overcome a United team still searching for cohesion despite heavy investment in the summer window.
Midfield could prove decisive. With Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders and Bernardo Silva expected to dictate for City, United may struggle to gain a foothold.
Defensive frailties mean the hosts might concede, but their greater quality and control should ensure they emerge with the derby spoils.

Foden could be back with a bang
Manchester City face some uncertainty over the fitness of several key attacking players, including Phil Foden.
The England international has had the international break to recover from an ankle issue and managed 15 minutes off the bench in the recent defeat to Tottenham.
Foden has an excellent record in this fixture, scoring six times in 11 Premier League derbies, and he looks well placed to add to that tally if declared fit to start.

Reijnders happy to have a crack
Goals look highly likely in this Manchester derby, with both sides showing defensive vulnerabilities. Eight of the last nine clashes between the two have produced over 2.5 goals, and the same outcome seems on the cards here.
New signing Tijjani Reijnders has been lively for City, registering at least one shot in each of his three league outings and scoring on debut against Wolves. If pushed into a more advanced role, he should once again test the goalkeeper.
United will look to exploit City’s openness in transition, placing plenty of responsibility on Rodri to break up counters. The Spaniard has already picked up four bookings in 14 meetings with United and looks a strong candidate for another card.
