City to claim the bragging rights
City are still in a fierce battle to finish in the top four, with Chelsea, Newcastle and Aston Villa also vying for Champions League football, so the Citizens can’t afford to ease up and they will be putting everything into this derby.
The Citizens are not the consistent force they have been over the past four seasons, but they are still managing to churn out results, most recently beating Championship-bound Leicester 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.
Pep Guardiola’s side came from behind to beat Bournemouth 2-1 in the FA Cup quarter-finals prior to that success over the Foxes and the soon-to-be dethroned champions are on a three-game unbeaten run.
The old adage is ‘form goes out the window’ when it comes to a derby, but the fact is City are showing positives and opponents United are still struggling to hit their stride under Ruben Amorim.
The Red Devils went down 1-0 at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday and United have won just two of their last seven top-flight matches, a run of results that has kept them housed in the bottom half of the standings.
Amorim’s side have also lost two, won one and drawn one of their last four home assignments in the league and that patchy form at the Theatre of Dreams may haunt them again.
Manchester United vs Manchester City Tip 1: Manchester City to win @ 11/10 with bet365
Marmoush to stay on the goal trail
City received a blow after the FA Cup win over Bournemouth when confirming Erling Haaland is facing around seven weeks on the sidelines due to an ankle injury, but the Norwegian’s absence has presented an opportunity to Omar Marmoush.
The Egyptian came off the bench to replace Haaland against the Cherries and required little time before getting on the scoresheet, while he then followed that up with a strike in the win over Leicester.
Marmoush has now netted in three matches in a row, having also scored in the draw against Brighton before the international break, and he looks capable of notching against the Red Devils.
Manchester United vs Manchester City Tip 2: Omar Marmoush anytime goalscorer @ 7/4 with bet365
Ugarte to help deliver bet builder
United captain Bruno Fernandes has had at least one shot on target in his last six appearances and he can test the goalkeeper out once again, as can Citizens ace Savinho, who has had an effort at goal in two of his last three outings.
City midfielder Matheus Nunes has been forced to play at right-back in recent games due to the injury issues and he has been a magnet for the officials, with the Portugal international committing at least one foul in each of his last four matches.
The 26-year-old may struggle to stay out of the referee’s view at Old Trafford and the same can be said of Red Devils midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who could be in line for another booking.
The 23-year-old Uruguayan has been booked 11 times this season, eight of those coming in the league, and his fiery temperament could see his name taken again.
Manchester United vs Manchester City Tip 3: Bet builder – Bruno Fernandes 1+ shots on target, Savinho 1+ shots on target, Matheus Nunes to commit 1 or more fouls & Manuel Ugarte to be booked @ 9/1 with bet365
