St.James’ Park is currently a fortress

So much of Newcastle’s recent successes have been due to the fact that St.James’ Park is a fortress.

Newcastle have only lost four matches at home this season and they have won their last five home matches in the Premier League, scoring 17 goals along the way. Chelsea have been good this season, but their good form has mainly been at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are very inconsistent away from home, with three losses, one draw and one win in their last five away matches.

In the Premier League, they have won seven, drawn four and lost six of their away games so far, and Newcastle will no doubt be excited at the prospect of facing them at St.James’ Park.

Expect Newcastle to claim plenty of cards

With this match at St.James’ Park and with Newcastle fighting for a place in the top five, we are expecting there to be an aggressive style to Newcastle’s game against Chelsea.

They are already averaging 2 yellow cards a game in the division and we are expecting them to receive a few cards this weekend. Joelinton and Dan Burn already have 10 yellow cards each this season, and they clearly aren’t worried about going into the referee’s book.

With so much at stake, and with Newcastle picking up 60 yellow cards in their 35 Premier League matches, we are expecting a fiery home side to be aggressive and on the front foot against the Blues.

Isak and Palmer likely to try their luck

Alexander Isak and Cole Palmer are both key players for their respective clubs, and they aren’t afraid to shoot either. Isak has 23 goals for Newcastle in the Premier League this season, whilst Cole Palmer has 15. Isak is averaging 2.9 shots a game, whilst Palmer is averaging 2.2 shots per game.

Despite them being just under three shots a game, we can see both going above their average in this match on Sunday, as they both are desperately fighting for a spot in next year’s Champions League.

The battle is tight and the only way either side will get in the top 5 comfortably is if they win this weekend. Expect both players to try their luck with multiple shots this weekend.
