Rob Edwards is now odds-on to replace Thomas Frank as Brentford manager, following the revelation from Fabrizio Romano that Justin Cochrane will be following Frank to Spurs.
Romano is best known for breaking transfer news with the phrase “here we go!”, and the Italian has now revealed to his 24 million followers on X that it’s not just Thomas Frank who’ll be saying goodbye to West London in the next few days.
Next Brentford manager betting odds
Until now, UK betting sites had expected Justin Cochrane to be appointed as the next permanent Brentford manager. But, in the words of Fabrizio Romano, “Justin Cochrane has now approved contract as new Spurs assistant coach. Cochrane will leave Brentford despite club efforts to keep him as he wants to join Thomas Frank at Tottenham.”
With Cochrane seemingly out of the reckoning, it appears that Brentford will have little option but to make an external appointment now, and it’s Kieran McKenna who has been cut into odds-on.
McKenna has been linked with some huge positions last summer, after leading Ipswich Town to successive promotions. While their progress came to an abrupt end in May, McKenna remains highly regarded and may see this as the right moment to step back into a role within the Premier League.
Another manager thought to be in contention is Bodø/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen. The rise of the Norwegian team since Knutsen’s appointment in 2018 has been nothing short of remarkable, winning four league titles between 2020 and 2024, before embarking on a fairytale run in the UEFA Europa League that saw them defeat Lazio before eventually losing to Spurs in the semi-finals.
And another man on Brentford’s shortlist, at least according to Romano, is Scott Parker. It is thought that Parker is happy to remain at Burnley after guiding them back into the Premier League, and building a team with a miserly defence, but betting sites have reacted to Romano’s news by cutting Scott Parker from 33/1 to 14/1 to make the move to West London.

Who is Justin Cochrane?
Justin Cochrane is currently the Head of Coaching at Brentford. As a player, he was deployed as both a centre-back and defensive midfielder, starting out at QPR, before spending a number of years at Crewe Alexandra.
It’s as a coach that Cochrane has really come to the fore though. Cochrane joined Spurs’ academy in 2009, where he worked across U11 to U23 levels. He went on to join the FA, leading England’s U15 to U17 squads and helping develop youth talent.
Cochrane was appointed Head of Coaching at Brentford in July 2022, working under Thomas Frank to develop the first-team squad. More recently, he was added to England’s senior coaching staff under Thomas Tuchel, while continuing his Brentford duties, and it appears his next step may well now be to follow Frank to North London at Tottenham.
