McKenna was initially priced up as a 20/1 outsider to move north to Scotland, but concerted money throughout Tuesday saw him cut to no bigger than 8/11. Now, McKenna’s odds have increased, pushing him back out to 11/4. Postecoglou is 10/3 to take the job, whilst Bellamy is a new name in the reckoning at 10/1.

Who are the favourites to be the next Celtic manager?
Kieran McKenna has been the most popular option in the early stages of betting for Celtic’s new manager. McKenna is generally accepted to have worked wonders in his time at Ipswich, taking them from League One to the Premier League, and not disgracing themselves despite ultimately suffering relegation. McKenna has been linked with several high-profile English Premier League jobs, and he may feel the time is right to move on, with Ipswich currently mid-table in the ultra-competitive Championship. He was the clear favourite earlier in the week, but it now feels like there’s some uncertainty over the next Celtic manager, with other contenders now closer in odds to McKenna than they have been.
Postecoglou is the second favourite, with his odds shifting every day. Having started off as the clear favourite before drifting to 8/1, he’s now back in to 10/3. In his former stint as Celtic manager, Postecoglou was in charge for two years, and managed 113 matches. He has a great record for The Bhoys, winning 83 games, and losing just 18. During his time in Glasgow, Postecoglou won the Scottish Premiership twice and also won three Scottish Cups. It was a highly successful period and they dominated Scottish football whilst he was in the dugout, so it’s no shock to see him in contention.
Next in the betting comes Robbie Keane. However, any appointment would be highly controversial given his period as Maccabi Tel Aviv manager during the ongoing Gaza-Israel conflict.
Current interim manager Martin O’Neill is also listed in the Celtic manager betting odds, but it not thought to be a serious contender to take over on a permanent basis despite starting his caretaker spell with a 4-0 victory over Falkirk. O’Neill originally took over as Celtic’s manager back in 2000 and managed the club for five years. He won seven trophies, including three league titles, but the 73 year old hasn’t managed a club since 2019, so it would be a risky appointment.
The odds between the favourites are closer than they have been all week, suggesting that Celtic are taking their time with the decision and are not going to rush anything.
Overnight, a new name has entered the running and is now among the favourites. It was reported that current Wales manager Craig Bellamy is now in the frame for the job. Bellamy did play for Celtic for a short period, scoring 9 goals in 15 appearances. He is in the early stages of his managerial career and after a couple of assistant manager roles, he is in his first senior manager job at Wales. He is doing a decent job with his home nation and they are in the running to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
