Martin O’Neill is the favourite in the race to become the next Celtic manager, but there are other managers still in contention, like Kieran McKenna and Ange Postecoglou, who both led the betting at points last week.
Next Celtic manager betting odds
O’Neill was 9/2 last week, but he is now the favourite and was as short as 5/2. He is now 7/2 as the odds continue to change daily.
McKenna was initially priced up as a 20/1 outsider to move north to Scotland, but concerted money in the early stages of last week saw him cut to no bigger than 8/11. Now, McKenna’s odds have increased, pushing him back out to 11/2.
Ange Postecoglou is also in the running and is the current third favourite at 13/2, with the bookies now struggling to split the favourites apart.

Who are the favourites to be the next Celtic manager?
Martin O’Neill is the current favourite to be the next Celtic manager, according to the latest odds from betting sites. O’Neill was not thought to be a serious contender to take over on a permanent basis, but with the search dragging on, and O’Neill’s caretaker spell starting with a 4-0 victory over Falkirk and a 3-1 win against Rangers in the League Cup semi-final, the 73 year-old now heads the betting.
O’Neill originally took over as Celtic’s manager back in 2000 and managed the club for five years. He won seven trophies, including three league titles. He hasn’t managed a club since 2019, but hasn’t had any difficulties since becoming the interim manager of the Hoops and has them heading back in the right direction.
Kieran McKenna was the most popular option in the early stages of betting for Celtic’s new manager. McKenna is generally accepted to have worked wonders in his time at Ipswich, taking them from League One to the Premier League, and not disgracing themselves despite ultimately suffering relegation. McKenna has been linked with several high-profile English Premier League jobs and seems to be comfortable at Ipswich as he tries to get them promoted back to the Premier League. Despite this, the opportunity of titles and European football could tempt him.
Postecoglou is the third favourite. Having started off as the clear favourite before drifting to 8/1, he’s now at 13/2. In his former stint as Celtic manager, Postecoglou was in charge for two years, and managed 113 matches. He has a great record for The Bhoys, winning 83 games, and losing just 18. During his time in Glasgow, Postecoglou won the Scottish Premiership twice and also won three Scottish Cups. It was a highly successful period and they dominated Scottish football whilst he was in the dugout, so it’s no shock to see him in contention.
Former England interim manager Lee Carsley is also a potential option at 8/1, but he seems quite devoted to his role as manager of the England U21’s for the time being, so it may be quite hard for Celtic to convince him to join.
