Everton have decided to sack manager Sean Dyche following a run of matches that saw the Merseyside club win one match in their last 10 Premier League games. The Friedkin Group, who have been the owners of the Toffees for less than a month, have decided to part ways with Dyche.
No doubt they will want to hire Dyche’s replacement as soon as possible so they can focus on securing their Premier League status, ahead of rebuilding the club once they leave Goodison Park at the end of the season.
Next Everton Manager Betting Odds
Everton fans will want to know who the current favourites for the managerial job at the Toffees are, so here are the latest odds for the next Everton manager. The current favourite is former manager David Moyes, whilst others towards the top of the Everton manager betting market include Jose Mourinho, former interim England manager Lee Carsley, and Paolo Fonseca who was recently relieved of his managerial duties at AC Milan.
Mourinho had initially been vying for favouritism, but appears there was little substance to those rumours. Instead, it’s Moyes who is expected to speak to the decision makers, with a view to making a quick appointment ahead of Wednesday night’s Premier League match against Aston Villa. If rumours are to be believed, Moyes is currently expected to be brought in on an initial short-term contract, with the potential of Lee Carsley as his assistant manager. The pair will know each other well already, given Carsley played under Moyes, and was a key part of the team which finished in fourth place in the 2004/05 Premier League season.
Leighton Baines, who took charge of Everton’s 2-0 FA Cup victory over Peterborough on Thursday night, has ruled himself out of the reckoning although he would most likely remain part of Everton’s coaching staff, having been a stalwart during Moyes’ previous stint at Goodison Park.

David Moyes, Jose Mourinho and Lee Carsley in the running for Everton job
The three current favourites are Moyes, Carsley and Mourinho. Fans of the club will know David Moyes well as he managed the club for over a decade, taking charge of over 500 matches whilst in the Goodison Park dugout.
Moyes averaged 1.54 points per match whilst at Everton and had a very respectable record at the club as he won 221, drew 134 and lost 163 of his 518 games in charge. He is no doubt remembered fondly in the eyes of many who support the club. Under Moyes, the Toffees were tough to beat and would typically finish in the top half of the table. They had some great years under the Scottish manager and even played in the Europa League whilst he was in charge. Moyes left Everton to be Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor at Manchester United, but this move did not go to plan as he was sacked before he managed a year in charge of the Red Devils. Moyes managed only 51 matches at Manchester United. After his role at Manchester United, Moyes had spells at Real Sociedad and Sunderland, as well as two spells at West Ham.
Since Everton, Moyes’ most successful job has been at West Ham, where the manager made them a team battling consistently for European qualification. They played in the Europa League and the Europa Conference League under the Scotsman, who brought them one of the biggest nights in their club’s history as they famously won the Europa Conference League in Prague. Moyes would be an easy and safe appointment, especially with him currently without a job.
Jose Mourinho would bring a wealth of experience as he has won 12 trophies during his managerial career, including the Premier League with Chelsea, as well as the Champions League with Inter Milan and Real Madrid. Mourinho has a history of being at huge clubs, with Spurs and Manchester United also on his CV. Despite this, his spells over the last few years have not gone as successful and he is currently at Fenerbahce. With this in mind, and with his most recent spell in the Premier League at Spurs not being that successful, he may be a name that many want to steer clear from.
Lee Carsley would be more of an unknown as the former Everton player is relatively new to the world of management. He is currently the England U21 manager and famously led the Young Lions to victory in the U21’s Euro in 2023. Carsley was also interim England manager for six games, winning five and losing one. Carsley is yet to have a permanent full-time role as the head manager of a club, so it may be more of a risk for Everton to hire him.
The next managerial appointment for Everton is huge. They cannot afford to be relegated just before moving into their new stadium and they also will need to make the appointment sooner rather than later in order to turn things around in the Premier League.
