Manchester United have shown patience by not sacking Ruben Amorim yet, despite the manager only winning eight Premier League matches out of 31. Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s patience is very likely to change if Amorim continues to struggle.

There are some big names who are currently among the favourites at UK Betting sites to replace Amorim, like former England boss Gareth Southgate, as well as former Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is the leading favourite to replace Amorim if the poor form at Man United continues.

Just like last season, the club are battling in the bottom half of the table and Amorim has to turn things around as soon as possible if he wants to keep his job. There are some top names linked to replacing him and no doubt they would all be happy to manage at the club if they had the chance.

Oliver Glasner the favourite to replace Ruben Amorim at Man Utd

The pressure is definitely on Amorim to improve the situation at Manchester United. His record in the Premier League is poor, with the club winning eight, drawing seven and losing 16 of their 31 matches in the division since he took over. They have also scored just 36 goals, whilst they have conceded 49.

The club finished 15th last season and currently sit 14th, so it doesn’t really look like the former Sporting CP boss has managed to get any better over the summer, despite hundreds of millions being spent during the transfer window.

There are some top managers in the running to replace Amorim, with Oliver Glasner the current favourite. This shouldn’t come as a shock as the Austrian manager has achieved remarkable things whilst taking charge of Crystal Palace.

In his 69 matches in charge of the Eagles, Glasner has won 33, drawn 21 and only lost 15. They have won the FA Cup and the Community Shield with Glasner in charge and have qualified for Europe, something that fans could only dream of a year ago.

More so, the Palace manager plays a similar style to Amorim, albeit with a lot more success, and this could be something that the Man Utd hierarchy would want from any possible successor.

Gareth Southgate is also in the frame, and he did well whilst manager of England, guiding the Three Lions to two European Championship finals, but he hasn’t managed at club level since he was in charge of Middlesbrough from 2006-2009, so he would be a risky appointment.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer outside favourite

Man United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also in the running to replace Amorim if he was sacked, but he is just an outside favourite for now, with his odds 15/2. Solskjaer has managed the Red Devils before. He was the caretaker manager in 2018/19 for 19 matches and was then given the job on a permanent basis.

He managed Man United for 149 games after being given the job permanently, and it was a rollercoaster of emotions for fans of the club as he led them to a second place finish in 2020/21 and also managed to guide them to a famous victory against PSG in 2019. The Norwegian also led Man United to the Europa League final, which they did end up losing.

Despite some good moments, the club never won major silverware whilst he was in charge and if the club were to look to hire him again, then many fans would probably feel like it’s a backwards step from those in charge.
