Philippe Clement was relieved of his duties in charge of Rangers on Sunday evening, which brought an end to a hugely frustrating spell in charge of the Scottish giants. It came after a dismal 2-0 defeat at Ibrox at the hands of St Mirren, which only heightened calls for Clement to depart.
Clement was appointed as Rangers’ manager back in October 2023, as he took charge from Michael Beale. However, Clement certainly hasn’t left Rangers in the best of positions, as they’re 13 points adrift of Celtic in the table heading into the final week of February.
There’s been plenty of names linked to the managerial vacancy at Rangers, and MyBettingSites’ team of betting experts will take a look at the next Rangers manager odds, which is certainly a competitive market.
Next Rangers Manager Odds
Barry Ferguson is the current favourite to be appointed as the next Rangers manager, as he’s priced as short as 2/5 with Sky Bet, which gives him a probability of 71.4% of being named as the Gers’ next boss at Ibrox.
Issame Charai is the assistant manager at Rangers, and is the second-favourite to take charge, although his probability of 20% via odds of 4/1, makes it unlikely that he’ll be promoted from his current role.
Former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is priced at 11/1 to return to the club, whilst the likes of Steven Davis, Sean Dyche, and Steve Cooper are notable outsiders to be named as Rangers’ next manager.
Manager | Odds | Implied Probability |
Barry Ferguson | 2/5 | 71.4% |
Issame Charai | 4/1 | 20% |
Steven Gerrard | 11/1 | 8.3% |
Russell Martin | 11/1 | 8.3% |
Steven Davis | 16/1 | 5.9% |
Kevin Thomson | 20/1 | 4.8% |
Sean Dyche | 25/1 | 3.8% |
Steve Cooper | 25/1 | 3.8% |
Who is the favourite to be the next Rangers manager?
Barry Ferguson is the frontrunner to succeed Clement at Ibrox, and it seems likely that the former Rangers midfielder will be appointed in the near future if the betting odds are anything to go by. Ferguson had two separate spells with Rangers as a player, and is a hugely popular figure amongst the club’s supporters. The 47-year-old won five Scottish Premiership titles whilst with Rangers, as well as being named the SFWA Footballer of the Year on two occasions whilst with the Scottish giants.
Ferguson was last in management with Alloa Athletic back in 2022, and this would be his biggest job to date by some distance. Rangers have it all to do if they’re to make Celtic work in the race for the Scottish Premiership title this season, but if the former Rangers midfielder is given the time to build a long-term plan, then we could potentially see success returning to Ibrox.
