The Rangers managerial chaos continues following another twist on the weekend, and this has seen the next Rangers managerial market change massively again. Steven Gerrard and Danny Rohl had withdrawn from the process, leaving Kevin Muscat with an increasingly clear path to be appointed as Russell Martin’s successor, but talks have not gone well with Muscat and the move has collapsed following talks over the weekend. Rohl is now back in the running and is the favourite for the job!

Former Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl is the current favourite with betting sites following a dramatic weekend which saw Muscat overtake his rivals at the head of the betting and then completely drop out of the running.
Rohl impressed at Sheffield Wednesday under trying circumstances and would be seen as a more progressive appointment than the likes of Sean Dyche. Gerrard is also back amongst the favourites despite talks breaking down with the 45 year-old. Bodø/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen is also amongst the favourites for the job, but it currently looks like Rohl could be the manager to take the job at Ibrox and possibly end this dramatic managerial saga.

Who are the favourites to be next Rangers manager?
Those yearning for an appointment with historical Rangers links were very pleased to see Kevin Muscat’s name under consideration, and a lot may now be very disappointed after the weekend news which revealed that talks with the 52 year-old had collapsed.
It also looks like the ship may have sailed for Steven Gerrard’s potential return. His odds dropped towards the end of last week to 7/2. He’s now seen as an outside favourite, with his odds currently 16/1. Danny Rohl looked to be falling out of the running, with various sources last week claiming that the German was no longer a candidate to step into the hotseat at Ibrox. Rohl’s odds were 25/1 towards the end of last week, but after the events over the weekend, his odds have shortened and he is now the odds-on favourite, with the German now just 1/2 to take the job.
Rohl took charge of 89 games at Sheffield Wednesday, winning 34, drawing 19 and losing 36, which is a very good record when you take into the account all the issues off the pitch that were going on and still are going on at Sheffield Wednesday. Rohl has tactical flexibility and demands high energy and a good work rate from his players and this would suit Rangers perfectly.
Should Rohl not be appointed, the Rangers board may yet turn to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian’s former Man United teammate Paul Scholes broadly hinted that Solskjaer was in talks about the role. Speaking on the Good Bad Football podcast, Scholes said, “I was actually with a lad the other night who told me he was actually going to meet Rangers. I’m not sure if he did, but his name’s not been mentioned. I don’t think he was going for it. They contacted him and he was going to meet him in London the day after.”
