Who are the favourites to take over at West Ham?
Nuno Espirito Santo’s dismissal at Nottingham Forest may have raised eyebrows, but many still regard his tenure as a success, having led the club back into European competition for the first time since the 1995/96 season. His departure has coincided with heavy speculation around the West Ham job, whilst updates from journalists Ben Jacobs and Miguel Delaney have sparked significant shifts in the betting markets.
Jacobs has reported that West Ham’s shortlist features both Espirito Santo and Sean Dyche, but the biggest talking point was his revelation that owner David Sullivan is keen on bringing back Slaven Bilic. The Croatian previously managed the Hammers between 2015 and 2017, guiding them into the Europa League, and despite a nomadic career since, including spells at Al-Ittihad, Beijing Guoan, and most recently Al-Fateh, he is currently out of work and available.
Meanwhile, Delaney’s claim that Gary O’Neil is under consideration has seen the ex-Wolves manager’s odds tumble from 16/1 to 5/1. His history with the club as a former midfielder could make him a popular choice among supporters. Michael Carrick and Scott Parker, also ex-West Ham players, have been mentioned as potential contenders to step into the dugout at the London Stadium.

Why is Graham Potter under pressure?
The appointment of Graham Potter was seen as something of a coup when it was first announced. However just six wins in 24 games since Potter’s appointment have seen the clouds gather, and the pressure gradually mount. The loss of Mohammed Kudus in the summer was a big blow, while the signing of £20 million keeper Mads Hermansen has failed to shore up a leaky defence.
A 3-0 defeat to newly promoted Sunderland on the opening day of the season meant Potter was immediately under fire after the summer break, and heavy home defeats to Chelsea and Tottenham have only heightened the anxiety that surrounds the London Stadium at present, with UK betting sites now pricing him up at 2/5 to be the Premier League manager to leave his current job.
