NFL Wild Card Weekend Tips and Predictions
The road to Super Bowl LX intensifies this week as the 2026 NFL playoffs start with the Wild Card round.
The top seeds in the AFC and NFC – the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks – earn a bye into next week’s Divisional round, and there are six games taking place across Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Wild Card weekend begins in Carolina on Saturday, where the Panthers host the Los Angeles Rams, then the Chicago Bears will welcome the Green Bay Packers to Soldier Field for the latest chapter in the NFL’s longest-running rivalry.
Sunday features a triple header: Buffalo at Jacksonville, San Francisco at Philadelphia, and Los Angeles Chargers at New England, while Wild Card weekend rounds off in Pittsburgh on Monday when the Steelers host the Houston Texans.

Packers ready to raid Soldier Field
One of the most evenly matched games of the weekend comes from Saturday’s late contest in the Windy City, where the Chicago Bears could find the Green Bay Packers too strong.
While the Packers snuck in as the NFC’s seventh seed, their offence is healthier than it has been for a while after an injury-hit regular season, and that should enable quarterback Jordan Love to pile up points against a defence which has allowed the fourth-most total yards this year.
Green Bay effectively took last week off in order to make sure their starters are fully healthy, while the Bears’ previously impressive offence was non-existent in a loss to the Detroit Lions.

Shootout looks on the cards in Jacksonville
Two gun-slinging quarterbacks clash in Jacksonville as Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars host Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills in what could be a classic Wild Card contest.
The Jags locked up the AFC South title and head into the NFL playoffs on a run of eight wins, thanks in the main to an offence that has averaged 33.5 points over that eight-week spell.
Their defence showed its teeth in last week’s 41-7 win over a below-average Tennessee Titans, but a meeting with Allen and the Bills presents a much tougher test, even if the 2024 regular season MVP is not fully healthy.
Four of Jacksonville’s last five games have gone over the total and this one should follow suit.

New England can prove they’re the real deal
It’s been quite the turnaround in New England this season with Drake Maye and the Patriots going from 4-13 last year to 13-4 this time around, locking up the AFC East title and the No.2 seed in the process.
Talk of Maye’s MVP claims has dominated the last few days, with many observers suggesting that the Pats’ easy schedule has to be taken into account in the voting for the season-long award.
New England could still be exposed in later rounds, but the LA Chargers do not look equipped to beat them in Foxborough.
The Chargers’ vulnerable offensive line remains a significant issue and while their defence is top tier, it will be under significant pressure from Maye and his offence.

Houston should have no problems in Pittsburgh
One road team who look well placed to win are the Houston Texans, who can march into Heinz Field and claim a comfortable victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Texans are on a run of nine straight NFL wins, leaning on an elite defence that ranks first in the AFC in a number of metrics.
Houston’s offence has questions to answer, but the Steelers and veteran QB Aaron Rodgers are not an offensive powerhouse, and CJ Stroud should be able to make enough big plays to keep the Texans out in front.
