Arsenal vs Chelsea preview
There’s plenty of football to bet on today, with the Championship, League One and League Two all in action. However today’s biggest match is undoubtedly the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg involving Arsenal and Chelsea. Arsenal hold a 3-2 lead after winning at Stamford Bridge, but Alejandro Garnacho’s late goal ensured Arsenal’s progress to the final is far from a formality. If you want to have a bigger interest in the game, then have a look at our Arsenal v Chelsea tips and predictions below.
Arsenal vs Chelsea (Tuesday 8pm)
Mikel Arteta’s side have been formidable at home this season, winning 14 of their 18 matches across all competitions and suffering just a single defeat. Over that spell, Arsenal have averaged 2.39 goals per game while conceding only 0.67, underlining their dominance at the Emirates.
Chelsea, however, have been far more reliable in front of goal on the road than their overall form might suggest. The Blues have failed to score just once in their last 27 away matches in all competitions and, since drawing a blank against Bournemouth, they have struck 19 goals across eight consecutive away fixtures, averaging 2.37 per game.
History also favours the hosts. Chelsea are winless in their last nine meetings with Arsenal, losing six of those encounters, during which Arteta’s side have averaged 2.33 goals per match.
That attacking edge is reflected in the goalscorer markets too. Five Arsenal players are priced shorter to score at any time than Chelsea’s most fancied attacker, Cole Palmer. Among them is Kai Havertz, who has re-established himself in the starting XI in a midfield role just behind Viktor Gyokeres.
