PSG vs Bayern Munich predictions and betting tips

Kane on course for more trophy glory

The first of Saturday’s two all-European quarter-finals sees Champions League winners PSG take on Bayern Munich at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, in what promises to be a heavyweight showdown.

It’s a mouthwatering tie and, despite the odds, it’s one Bayern Munich could win. The German giants boast an impressive four-game winning streak against PSG, all without conceding a goal, a record that should boost their confidence ahead of this latest meeting.

While PSG arrive in good form, it’s Bayern who may hold the edge based on their tournament performances so far. The 10-0 demolition of Auckland City was one thing, but it’s the more competitive 2-1 win over Boca Juniors and 4-2 victory over Flamengo in the last 16 that underline their credentials.

Bayern’s only blemish was a 1-0 loss to Benfica, but that came after qualification was already secured. PSG, for their part, were shocked 1-0 by Botafogo, in between comfortable wins over Atletico Madrid and Seattle Sounders. They cruised past Inter Miami 4-0 in the last 16, but Bayern’s firepower represents a serious step up.

With Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise all netting three goals apiece, Bayern are the top-scoring team in the Club World Cup. That attacking quality gives them a real shot at progressing, and perhaps better value than the betting markets suggest.

Olise can provide another key moment for German giants

Michael Olise has hit the ground running since making the move to Bayern Munich, topping the Bundesliga assist charts with 15 and adding 12 goals to cap off a phenomenal debut campaign in Germany.

The former Crystal Palace star finished the season in blistering form, registering a goal and an assist in each of Bayern’s final four league matches, a streak that’s carried over into the Club World Cup, where he already has three goals and two assists to his name.

While PSG represent a step up in class compared to Auckland City, Olise’s current form suggests he’s more than capable of rising to the occasion. Backing him to get a goal or an assist looks like smart value in what promises to be an open, attacking contest.
