Manchester United’s rebuild remains one of the biggest talking points in the Premier League. Questions still linger over whether the current squad is capable of returning the club to the top level. There is also continued uncertainty surrounding the managerial situation, adding another layer of intrigue to what is shaping up to be a crucial period for the club.

MyBettingSites.co.uk spoke exclusively to former Man United star Paul Parker, who shared his thoughts on Benjamin Šeško’s development, his long-term potential at Old Trafford, and why he believes significant changes are still required across the squad this summer.

Sesko can become a 20+ goalscorer

Parker believes Šeško is beginning to find his feet after a steady start, and says there are clear signs of progress in his overall game.

“Šeško started a bit slowly, but he is getting into his stride now. He is improving all the time, and I still strongly believe he can become a very good striker for Manchester United. He still needs better players around him, especially at full-back. He isn’t getting as many crosses as he would like, but he is making all the right runs.”

Despite the early inconsistencies, Parker is confident the striker has the attributes needed to develop into a reliable goalscorer at the highest level.

“I can see he has the potential to score 20+ goals in the Premier League for Manchester United, and they haven’t had that for a long time. I don’t think he is miles ahead of Højlund, but he does have better players around him than he did before, even if the situation still isn’t ideal.”

Work rate and finishing ability are two qualities Parker highlights, particularly when assessing Šeško’s first season in English football.

“But Šeško is working extremely hard and he is a good finisher. For his first season in the Premier League, I think he has done well. However, the second season is always more difficult because expectations rise.”

He also points to the increased pressure that will come with familiarity, as both fans and teammates now expect more consistent performances.

“The fans and his teammates now expect him to be fully settled. He is used to the pace of the Premier League, and there will be a lot of pressure on his shoulders next season. I just hope he can handle it.”

Man United need to bring in a minimum of five starters this summer

Turning his attention to the wider squad, Parker believes there has been noticeable progress in attacking areas compared to previous seasons.

“I actually think the front four is top class. It’s not the very best in the Premier League, but compared to a year ago, it is now a front line that can achieve something for Manchester United.”

He also highlights improved squad depth, pointing to additional attacking options who can make a difference.

“They also have more depth now. Amad Diallo and Dorgu are both very high-quality players as well. The big issue remains the back four, because they simply do not have the level required to play for a top side. If Manchester United want to compete consistently at the highest level, they need to bring in at least five players this summer – four defenders and one midfielder –  and they all need to be starters.”

The likelihood is that many United fans would agree with that sentiment, and they’re sure to be glued to their betting apps over the summer, keeping up to date with the latest transfer rumours.

Ultimately, Parker feels that while improvements have been made, a major overhaul is still necessary if the club is to close the gap to the league’s elite.

“On top of that, they need to move on a number of players and replace them with quality additions who can strengthen the overall depth. But bringing in five starting players is the absolute minimum. Ideally, they should target younger, hungry players, but ultimately the most important thing is the quality they bring.”

Man United play Bournemouth on Friday night, where the Slovenian striker knows just one more goal will see him reach double figures in the Premier League. Reaching that milestone would move him ever closer to becoming a regular in United’s starting line-up.
