What is there to really say about this fight that hasn’t already been said? Pundits, fighters and fans have weighed in, the majority bemoaning that this fight is happening. However, the potential circus of Paul vs Joshua does present some interesting angles from a betting perspective.

To put it bluntly, Joshua should annihilate Paul. The Brit is simply a level above. Paul can be considered a legitimate fighter, but not one who’s proven anything at a high level. He’s definitely improved since his early days in the ring, but failing to finish a geriatric Mike Tyson and a flat performance against a faded Julio Cesar Chavez Jr suggest he’s reached a plateau.

Paul hitting that boxing ceiling is to be expected, given he entered the sport late and isn’t a standout athlete. However, the American has shown enough basic technique to suggest he could avoid Joshua’s power early on.

This clash is likely to play out similarly to the Joshua vs Ngannou fight. AJ used the first round against the MMA champion as a feeling-out process, then devastatingly took him apart in round 2.

That’s why we like the look of Joshua to win in Round 1-2 in the Round Group Betting markets, especially as you can get it at above Evens at a few big betting sites. It’s a real possibility that AJ takes Paul out in seconds, but this bet gives you some insurance in case the two-time heavyweight champion opts to take his time.

The final bell may not be needed again

It’s fair to say this billing was not on anyone’s list of fights for 2025 at the start of this year.

Anthony Joshua returns to the ring against Jake Paul, fifteen months after his dismantling by Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium. Since that devastating loss, Joshua has taken time to recover and undergone elbow surgery.

At 36 years old, there isn’t much time left for AJ to recapture former glories. A 2026 bout against Tyson Fury remains high on Saudi Arabia’s boxing supremo Turki Al-Sheikh’s wishlist, with an agreement reportedly in place on both sides.

The pot of gold both Joshua and Paul are receiving from Netflix for this fight reportedly runs into the tens of millions, turning pure fantasy into reality.

An Olympic gold medalist and two-time unified champion, Joshua has an enviable body of work in this era, and he puts his reputation on the line here. For Jake Paul, in pure career terms, he has nothing to lose.

Many will regard one round in the ring with Joshua as a win for the content creator. Surviving more than six minutes would feel like an undisputed title. Paul has fought at heavyweight before, in a crude dance around with a 58-year-old Mike Tyson in 2024, also broadcast on Netflix.

The 28-year-old was last seen winning a wide points decision over 39-year-old Julio Cesar Chavez Jr at Cruiserweight in June. Other notable wins have come against former UFC fighters Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley.

Paul’s only loss came via split decision to another Brit, Tommy Fury, a fringe British title-level Light Cruiserweight in 2023.

Joshua has two knockout losses on his resume to Andy Ruiz and the aforementioned Dubois, while the other two career defeats came over 24 rounds with Oleksandr Usyk. Team Paul’s doubts about Joshua’s mentality and chin will almost certainly prove unfounded.

Unlike many of Paul’s former foes who had long since checked out of serious competition, Joshua still has skin in the game. He could nd this bout destructively, especially under the guidance of Usyk’s training team.

    Baumgardner’s moment to shine

Alycia Baumgardner (16-1-0) defends her unified titles in the co-main event against Leila Beaudoin (13-1-0) over twelve three minute rounds.

Formerly an undisputed champion, Baumgardner ditched her WBC title after they refused to sanction this fight under “male rules”, which adds a minute onto each round, as well as moving from 10 to 12 total rounds.

As well as the fight for equality, the move to 3 minute rounds will allow the 31-year-old more time to work and ultimately set up more finishes.

The American has an impressive seven stoppages from sixteen wins within the 120-second round time constraint and is best known for her fourth round finish of Terri Harper in 2021 to win her first world titles.

Baumgardner won undisputed two fights later against Mikaela Mayer and made four successful defences of her full rack of titles.

Beaudoin represents the latest test and arrives in good form after the first stoppage win of her career last time out, TKO’ing Elhem Mekhaled in the sixth round in June.

The 29-year-old Canadian has only made the step up to ten rounders in her last two fights and faces a big leap here in competition, ruleset and spotlight.

This feels like Baumgardner’s moment as chief support live around the world on Netflix and she has the experience, power and gas tank to be able to pull off a showcase moment here.

Woodley to win the battle of Paul’s former dance partners

Two former Jake Paul opponents go head-to-head on the main card as Anderson Silva faces Tyron Woodley.

Both made their careers in MMA before facing the American in the squared circle.

Silva went eight rounds with Paul, losing on the scorecards but was knocked down in the final round.

Woodley fought him twice, losing a decision in the first contest before being knocked out in the sixth round of the rematch.

In his prime Silva held the record for the longest ever UFC title reign when holding Middleweight gold for 2,457 days, while he also holds the record for the longest ever win streak with 16.

Woodley was no slouch either, a former Welterweight champion who made four title defences between 2016 and 2018.

His 2018 submission win over Darren Till remains the 43-year-old’s last competitive win, suffering six straight defeats across both codes since and has not competed since losing to Paul four years ago.

Silva is now 50-years-old and was last seen boxing former UFC rival Chael Sonnen in Brazil in an exhibition in June.

In their prime, Silva was the supreme fighter in terms of raw talent, speed and movement, however those days are behind him.

Woodley looks fit, strong and powerful and at seven years Silva’s junior is worth chancing here as the underdog.
