Premier League Darts Night 8 Betting Tips

Updated on

It’s a trip to the north-east for Night 8 of Premier League Darts, with Newcastle playing host to the eight premier PDC players.

Luke Littler is looking for a fourth straight nightly victory, after a winning run, which started on Week 5 in Brighton, extended to Night 6 in Nottingham and continued last Thursday in Cardiff.

The Nuke has already claimed the UK Open title this month, as well as a European Tour crown, and the world champion has looked an almost unbeatable performer in recent weeks.

Iceman can freeze out Newcastle rivals

Luke Littler has won three weeks of Premier League action on the bounce and the recently crowned UK Open champion has been the dominant force in the competition.

However, Gerwyn Price has won both of his two previous meetings with The Nuke in this season’s event and the Iceman looks a good value bet to disarm the 18-year-old in Newcastle.

Of course, Price has to beat Rob Cross in the quarter-finals first, while Littler will need to get past Stephen Bunting at the last-eight stage if there is to be a semi-final showdown between the pair, but the Iceman should hold up his side of the bargain.

The Welshman was beaten at the quarter-final stage of last week’s European Darts Trophy, but the performance levels of the former world champion in Germany suggested that Price was nearing his peak.

The Iceman averaged 103.74, 110.83 and 107.40 in his three matches on the European Tour and a repeat of those numbers should see the Welshman get past Cross in their quarter-final clash.

Clearly, a potential last-four battle with Littler will be no easy task, but Price is a 9/1 shot to win Night 8 in Newcastle and that looks too big.

Hollywood set to star in front of a home crowd

Chris Dobey is yet to peak in this season’s Premier League, but Hollywood may put on a stellar performance in front of a home north east crowd.

The Bedlington arrowsmith has already taken down a Players Championship title this season and there is no doubt that the 34-year-old has the game to be a force in this competition.

Luke Humphries is a top-level opponent, but Cool Hand has been well below his best in recent weeks and it’s three nights of Premier League action without success for the former world champion.

The Newbury arrowsmith struggled to deal with the influence of the crowd in the European Darts Trophy last week and it’s unlikely Humphries will have much support from the Newcastle fans.

Confident Asp a dangerous prospect

Nathan Aspinall played some excellent darts when winning the European Darts Trophy in Germany last weekend and the Asp can pack a punch against Michael van Gerwen in Newcastle.

The Stockport arrowsmith beat top performers Jermaine Wattimena, Humphries, Gary Anderson and Ryan Joyce on his way to the title and his numbers were pretty good too.

Averages of 100.63, 106.72, 98.66 and 98.19 in those four Germany victories suggest that Aspinall could cause MVG major problems in Newcastle.
