Gers to learn from past mistakes
The Old Firm coalesce for the second successive Sunday this weekend’s Scottish FA Cup quarter-final and Rangers will be looking to learn from the mistakes of last week when Celtic arrive at Ibrox.
A 92nd-minute goal from Reo Hatate saw the Gers relinquish a two-goal lead last weekend after Youssef Chermiti fired them 2-0 up with a first-half brace.
Danny Rohl’s side were dominant in the first half of that tie, but sat back on their lead and ultimately paid the price for their overly cautious approach after the break. That is a mistake the hosts will look to avoid this time around in their hunt for a 35th Scottish FA Cup triumph.
That last-minute goal ended Gers’ ten-game winning streak at Ibrox, but they remain unbeaten here since November and may get back to winning ways against a Celtic side that have lost two of their last five.
The Hoops have not won any of the last eight Old Firm derbies inside 90 minutes and lost 3-1 at home to the Teddy Bears in January. They also had a long midweek trip to Aberdeen to contend with, so back the well-rested home side to triumph on Sunday.

Goals on the cards at Ibrox
Last weekend’s 2-2 draw was the third successive Rangers game to feature at least four goals and another entertaining affair is backed with the two Scottish giants thriving going forward.
Twenty-four goals have been scored in the Gers last four home fixtures, while Celtic’s last six outings have averaged 3.5 goals per game.
Over 3.5 goals have been scored in four of the visitors’ last six on the road, making another goalfest a likely outcome.

Old Firm stars to steal the show
While Old Firm derbies always have the capacity to explode when tempers flare, the recent meetings between the pair have been relatively well controlled and going against the grain to back the unders in the card market may be a good value option.
Nneteen yellow cards and one red card have been shown in the last six meetings between these sides, with only one of those featuring more than three cards, and last weekend’s meeting only saw one card shown in the first 79 minutes.
Rangers striker Youssef Chermiti was crucial in that tie as he fired the hosts to a 2-0 lead in the first half, taking his tally to five goals in his last three games. He could put the Hoops to the sword again, while Bhoys midfielder Benjamin Nygren could also play a starring role.
The 24-year-old Swede assisted Celtic’s first goal at Ibrox and found the net in midweek, meaning he has now scored in nine of his last 13 appearances.
