Royal Ascot day 5 predictions & tips
The final day of the 2025 Royal Ascot jamboree takes place on Saturday and a superb all-round card features the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes for the sprinters, with the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes also promising to be a fantastic contest for the older horses.
Elsewhere on the card is an intriguing opening Chesham Stakes for juveniles while the Wokingham Handicap always provides thrills and spills before the meeting closes with the Queen Alexandra Stakes run over a marathon 2m5f.
- 2.30 Royal Ascot – Moments Of Joy to win @ 3/1 with bet365
- 3.40 Royal Ascot – Inisherin to win @ 7/2 with Betano
- 5.00 Royal Ascot – More Thunder to win at 11/4 with Spreadex
Chesham Stakes – 2.30pm
One of the standout themes at this year’s Royal Ascot has been Aidan O’Brien’s dominance in the juvenile division, and that looks set to continue in Saturday’s opener, the Chesham Stakes, where Moments Of Joy leads a typically strong Ballydoyle challenge.
The Chesham has a history of unveiling future stars, with Churchill and Pinatubo among the recent winners, and O’Brien has claimed five of the last nine renewals, including a devastating win with Bedtime Story in 2024.
This time it’s Moments Of Joy, a daughter of Justify, who carries the yard’s hopes. She created a striking impression on debut in a Leopardstown maiden over the same seven furlong trip, cruising to victory despite being the apparent second string behind odds-on favourite Minerva, who was ridden by Ryan Moore that day.
Moore now takes the ride on Moments Of Joy, which feels like a telling move. And it’s worth noting that O’Brien has previously won that exact Leopardstown maiden with two other horses who went on to land the Chesham. All the signs point to another strong performance from Ballydoyle’s latest rising star.

Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes – 3.40pm
The feature race at 3.40 is the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes, the only Group 1 on Saturday’s card, and this 6f contest has a strong international flavour. Top sprinters from the UK and Ireland face serious competition from Japanese and French challengers, making this a true global showdown.
Japan’s Satono Reve adds real intrigue on his first run in Britain, while French hopes Lazzat, Topgear and Sajir all bring solid credentials.
But the vote goes to Inisherin, who looks ready to deliver again for Kevin Ryan, a trainer with an outstanding record when it comes to top-level sprinters. Inisherin lit up Ascot with a brilliant performance in the Commonwealth Cup over this course and distance last season, and looked like a star in the making at that point.
Things didn’t go to plan afterwards, with underwhelming runs in the July Cup and Haydock Sprint Cup. However, a wind operation appears to have done the trick. He returned with a commanding win in the Duke Of York Stakes and now looks back to his best.
Aidan O’Brien’s Storm Boy is one of the most interesting rivals, having made the switch from Australia, but Inisherin has the proven class and the right profile to take this year’s Group 1 sprint crown.

Wokingham Stakes – 5:00pm
Later in the afternoon, the handicappers get their chance to thunder down Ascot’s 6f track, and if there’s one runner who looks a cut above the rest, it’s More Thunder.
Now with William Haggas after the retirement of Sir Michael Stoute, this son of Night Of Thunder has been reinvented as a sprinter and made an immediate impact. He turned heads with a commanding win in a strong Newmarket handicap over this distance, and backed it up under a 5lb penalty next time out. That second win was especially impressive given he had to overcome traffic problems before reeling in Aramram late on.
More Thunder has been kept fresh since and there should be plenty of improvement still to come from his current mark of 98. Ascot’s uphill finish looks tailor-made for his running style, and with Haggas having landed this race last year with another progressive type in Unequal Love, history might be about to repeat itself.
