Saturday’s Royal Ascot Betting tips
Our expert has a pair of selections for the coverage, the first of which comes in the eagerly anticipated Norfolk Stakes (2.30pm).
2.30 Royal Ascot – Carry The Flag
Aidan O’Brien’s Carry The Flag heads into Saturday’s Group 2 Norfolk Stakes as a formidable contender, poised to thrive over this demanding five-furlong test. The Ballydoyle juvenile arrives with crucial race experience after three strong starts, most recently finishing a highly respectable second to his highly regarded stablemate Great Barrier Reef in the Group 3 Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh.
Dropping back down in trip looks perfectly optimal for the son of 2013 Norfolk winner No Nay Never, having previously broken his maiden over five furlongs at Naas. Benefiting from a favourable draw in stall 13 and expected to relish Ascot’s stiff uphill finish, his raw speed and proven tactical versatility make him a standout outright selection to secure another Royal Ascot juvenile victory for his connections.

4.20 Royal Ascot – Saber Strike
William Haggas’s exciting three-year-old Saber Strike heads into Saturday’s Group 3 Jersey Stakes as a red-hot favourite on the final day at Royal Ascot. The Night Of Thunder colt remains completely unbeaten, having comfortably dispatched his rivals on his Redcar debut last autumn before seamlessly stepping up to Listed class on his reappearance in the King Charles II Stakes at Newmarket in May.
Partnered with Tom Marquand, the colt produced a breathtaking turn of foot at Newmarket to come from the rear of the field, proving he possesses the sheer class and tactical speed needed for this demanding seven-furlong test.
While he faces intriguing opposition from horses dropping down from the Guineas like Into The Sky and The Prettiest Star, Saber Strike is highly progressive and drawn well in stall 9. Backing him to complete his hat-trick is a supremely fair shout, as this unexposed prospect looks every bit a Group 1 horse in the making.
