Blades can book final spot in style
The Championship playoffs are traditionally nerve-jangling affairs but Sheffield United supporters should be feeling relaxed going into Monday’s semi-final second leg against Bristol City.
The Blades claimed a convincing 3-0 first-leg win at Ashton Gate on Thursday, helped by a red card for Bristol City defender Rob Dickie in first-half injury-time.
That defeat leaves the Robins with a mountain to climb, particularly as they won only four of their 23 regular-season away matches.
Liam Manning’s men finished 22 points behind third-placed United, who won 15 of their 21 home fixtures against teams below them in the table.
Given that Bristol City have to take risks if they are to pull off a comeback for the ages, the Blades can expect to create more goalscoring chances.
The hosts are worth backing to win a game featuring over 2.5 goals against a City side without a clean sheet in 12 matches.
The Robins lost 3-1 at relegated Luton and 4-0 at Leeds before scraping into the playoffs with a 2-2 home draw with Preston on the final day and they could be outclassed at Bramall Lane.

Back United star to showcase creative qualities
Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer was named the Championship’s Player of the Season last month and he is a tempting price to claim an assist in Monday’s second leg.
Hamer’s corner was flicked on for Callum O’Hare to score the Blades’ third goal in the first leg and he has racked up 26 assists in his last three Championship seasons for Coventry and Sheffield United.
The Brazilian-born midfielder also set up six of the Blades’ 35 goals during their difficult 2023/24 Premier League campaign and he looks set to pull the strings again on Monday night.

Bramall Lane set for lively second half
Sheffield United substitutes Andre Brooks and Callum O’Hare scored in the 73rd and 79th minutes of the first leg and over 1.5 second-half goals looks a solid Bet Builder selection on Monday.
The game is bound to open up as Bristol City try to overturn a three-goal deficit and the Blades, with striker Ben Brereton Diaz and winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi back in the squad, may well take advantage on the counter-attack.
City wing-back Ross McCrorie scored four goals from 14 shots in his last four regular-season home games, including a brace against Preston on the final day.
He has licence to get forward at Bramall Lane, where he can have two or more attempts at goal, and home midfielder Sydie Peck should muster at least one shot.
The 20-year-old has had 24 shots in his last eight starts, including four in 67 minutes at Ashton Gate last week.
- Sheffield United vs Bristol City Betting Tip 3: Bet Builder – Over 1.5 second-half goals, Ross McCrorie to have two or more shots & Sydie Peck to have one or more shots @ 13/2 with bet365
