All 26 man squads have been announced. The teams are on their way to Germany and in a flash, EURO 2024 is here.
The team at Mybettingsites.co.uk embarked on the task of determining the transfer values of all players and nations to see which players come into the tournament with big price tags.
To do so, we extracted all 26 man squads and assessed their transfer value via transfermarkt.com. We calculated the total transfer value of the nations participating at Euro 2024 as well as the average transfer value. We also determined the most expensive players at the tournament as well as per team.
Southgate’s Billion Pound Men Lead The Charge
Despite going without Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford, the England squad is the most valuable heading to the tournament with a combined transfer value of £1,275,933,000.00.
The Three Lions valuation runs over a billion pounds with the most valuable player being Jude Bellingham. The Real Madrid midfielder is valued at a mouthwatering £151,596,000.00 which makes him the joint most valuable player at the tournament alongside soon to be Real Madrid teammate, Kylian Mbappe.
France are the second most valuable team with a combined value of £1,039,274,800.00. They’re of course spearheaded by Mbappe and are the only other team with a valuation that’s over a billion pounds.
Interestingly, it’s Portugal who are the third most valuable side (£867,044,900.00) with their most valuable player being Rafael Leao. The Portuguese are ahead of their Iberian neighbours Spain and tournament hosts Germany. Defending champions Italy have the seventh most valuable squad heading into the tournament.
On the other end of the spectrum, Romania head into Euro 2024 with the least valuable squad (£77,587,675.00) followed by Albania (£93,989,520.00) and Slovenia (£119,213,410.00).
Tournament debutants Georgia have a squad more valuable than Romania, Albania and Slovenia thanks to Napoli star Khvicha Kvharatskelia who’s valued at £67,376,000.00.
England Lining Up With Dazzling Stars
In terms of the top 10 most valuable players heading into Euro 2024, four of them are English. Jude Bellingham, as mentioned earlier is tied for the top spot. You then have Phil Foden at third, Bukayo Saka at fourth and Declan Rice at the eighth spot. All four of them are valued above a hundred million pounds.
France are the next most well represented in the top 10 with Mbappe, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni. Germany have Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala in the list and Spain are represented by Rodri.
