More woe in store for troubled Tottenham
The knives are coming out for Thomas Frank at Tottenham and the calls for a managerial change could intensify if the club’s only realistic hope of a trophy this season is extinguished by Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Saturday.
That could well be the case as Spurs have won just twice on their own patch in the league this season, while Villa have already claimed three points on a visit to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in October.
Spurs look disjointed and are struggling with both injuries and a lack of confidence, while Villa are enjoying an excellent season in which they are trying to keep pace with Arsenal and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
The FA Cup may not be a priority but there will be a hunger from fringe players to be involved in what could be an exciting second half of the season, and with one defeat in their last 14 matches, they can see their way past the troubled north Londoners.

Good chance for Malen to shine
Unai Emery has plenty of forward resources at his disposal and some strong recent form from Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins has meant Dutch striker Donyell Malen has fallen down the pecking order.
However, following a relentless Premier League schedule in which he has played just a supporting role, he could be given an opportunity which he is capable of grabbing with both hands.
The Tottenham defence continues to look shaky and Malen demonstrated that he is not afraid to try his luck recently when he had three shots in a 30-minute substitute spell in the defeat to Arsenal.
He has scored seven goals for Villa this season and Emery can rely on him to put in a strong shift, so don’t be surprised if he adds to his tally.

Palhinha could see another yellow
Holding midfielder Joao Palhinha would have wished to have made a stronger impact during the first half of his season-long loan to Tottenham from Bayern Munich, and this could be an opportunity for him to make a big impression.
However, he has already been booked five times in the league this term and in his most recent Champions League outing against Slavia Prague, so another yellow card looks a good place to start for a Bet Builder selection.
Just three of the last 14 meetings have failed to generate three goals and the signs are again good for an entertaining encounter as both teams have scored in six of Villa’s last seven away games.
With 10 of Tottenham’s last 14 games having produced at least three goals, over 2.5 could be a winning bet here again.
The three-selection Bet Builder should be concluded with a prediction that there will be at least nine corners, as Villa have averaged 4.91 per away match in this season’s Premier League and Tottenham have a figure of 5.3 at home.
There were also 12 corners in October’s league game between the two sides.
