Statistics Emerge As Marcus Rashford Exit Rumours Grow Stronger

Updated on

The future of Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford remains up in the air heading into the final couple of weeks of the January transfer window, with it looking more and more likely that he’ll depart from Old Trafford this month.

Rashford has been with the Red Devils since 2005, and he’s come through the academy ranks to feature for the Manchester United first-team on 426 occasions. The 27-year-old has caught the eye for all the right reasons in that time as well, with Rashford scoring 138 goals, and being on hand to provide 63 assists for his team-mates.

However, the 2024/25 season has been a tough one for Rashford, with the England international being restricted to just 15 Premier League appearances, in what has been a hugely disappointing campaign to date. Newly-appointed Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has already voiced his verdict on Rashford’s future, which seems to be away from the club moving forwards.

Spanish giants, Barcelona and German side, Borussia Dortmund are the favourites to win the race to sign Rashford on loan this summer, with Barcelona being the 11/8 favourites on Sky Bet to strike a deal with Manchester United in the January transfer window. Sky Bet are one of the best football betting sites in the business, and they offer plenty of transfer-related betting markets on their site, which are well worth checking out if you haven’t done so already.

But will Rashford be missed by Manchester United if he is to depart before the January transfer window reaches a conclusion? The team at MyBettingSites have put together a table which compares when Rashford is involved in the starting line-up for Manchester United, and when the 27-year-old isn’t starting for the Red Devils.

Manchester United seemingly performed better and picked up more points when Rashford was involved in their starting XI, with the club having a win percentage of 48% when he's starting. That percentage drops to 36% when he's not involved in the starting XI, which isn't at all surprising when Ruben Amorim's side have struggled for any sort of momentum lately. Manchester United have scored 99 goals in total since the 2023/24 season, which is over double that of the goals (45) they scored when Rashford isn't starting, so they're clearly missing an attacking threat.

Our team of betting experts have also delved deeper into the overall statistics for when Rashford is and isn't starting for Manchester United, and once again, it's not at all surprising to see that they're a better team when he's involved. They've scored almost five times as many goals when he's starting, although it's worth remembering that Rashford's performances were questioned when he's been included in the Manchester United team this season, with plenty of the Old Trafford faithful being displeased with what they saw from the forward.

It seems highly unlikely that Rashford will be involved in the Manchester United team for their upcoming clash against Rangers in the Europa League this week, in what is a hugely important match for both teams at Old Trafford on Thursday.
