Slick City going through the gears
Manchester City thumped Sunderland 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium at the start of December, the third win in a streak which has seen the Citizens victorious in eight straight matches in all competitions.
And it is hard to see them not extending that winning run when they head to the Stadium of Light on Thursday, although another triumph may not be quite as comprehensive given the Black Cats’ strength on home soil.
Another City win should be backed, but it may also pay to back a goal for the home side at the same time.
Sunderland have made a stunning return to the top flight and they start this round of fixtures in seventh spot, just four points off Liverpool in fourth.
Home form has been key and Regis Le Bris’s men are yet to taste defeat on Wearside this term with five wins and four draws from their nine home league fixtures.
They have conceded just eight times in that sequence but that number is likely to rise this week with a visit from this potent City side.
City had to work hard to overcome Nottingham Forest in a 2-1 win last time out and a similar performance may be needed to see off a spirited Sunderland, too.

Aerial strength could be key
Sunderland were well beaten by Manchester City the last time the two sides met but City had to rely on two centre-backs to do the damage at the Etihad, with Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol bagging the opening two goals on that occasion.
Gvardiol is a constant threat at set-pieces but he is not afraid to have a pop at distance too, while he loves to get forward when used as a left-back by boss Pep Guardiola.
The Croatian has scored three times for club and country this term, but Sunderland may find him too hot to handle once again, and backing him to score at 7/1 provides great value.

Second half to come alive
Sunderland will aim to keep things tight for as long as possible at the Stadium of Light so backing under two first-half goals and most goals to come after the break look two strong legs for a four-way bet builder that pays out at 6/1.
The Black Cats have conceded just eight goals at home this term but the threat of facing the best attack in Premier League could see them succumb later on in the match as minds and legs start to tire.
