Treble winners will take some beating

Hull KR head coach Willie Peters has built a bit of a dynasty in East Yorkshire and his side have not finished outside the top four since he took charge at the end of the 2022 campaign.

The Robins finished fourth in 2023, second in 2024 and then completed a clean sweep of domestic honours in 2025.

Hull KR lost only five games last year and their ability to control match and kill teams off was the difference.

They have lost some experienced players in Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Micky McIlorum due to retirement, but Peters has added some real strength in depth to his squad.

The Robins will believes in themselves when it gets tough thanks to their success in 2025 and Peters’ decision to stay put suggests they mean business for the season ahead.

Black and Whites can learn from 2025 mistakes

Hull FC just missed out on the play-offs in 2025, finishing three points outside the top six.

Head coach John Cartwright has added some grunt to his pack in the shape of Sam Lisone, while the arrival of Joe Batchelor will add further quality to his pack.

Cartwright managed to build an identity last season and he has fine-tuned his squad in the winter to prepare for another play-off push.

The arrival of half-back Jake Arthur gives them some extra class in key areas and it should help ease the pressure on the energetic Will Pryce.

This year, more than ever, the race for the top six should be intense. 

Wakefield will look to go under the radar under Daryl Powell, while Warrington Wolves and Catalans Dragons will feel that they cannot be any worse than they were last season.

The jury is still out on St Helens after they regressed last year, but Hull FC have something some of those other teams don’t have, and that is continuity.

The Black and Whites have made small tweaks to a team that ruffled a few feathers in 2025, so they have every chance of making the top six.

Martin to take individual crown once again

Hull FC’s Lewis Martin enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2025, winning the top tryscorer award after 25 efforts in Super League.

The addition of powerful forwards and more creativity in the half-back department should only benefit Martin out wide.

He averaged 0.93 tries last season and he is good value to enjoy repeat success under Cartwright.

The 21-year-old built up a great rapport with Aidan Sezer in 2025, but he now has two or three playmakers that could feed him on a regular basis.
