We fired up our supercomputer to determine who will win the series and it favours the hosts to bring the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Australia after a gap of eight years.
Our supercomputer determined the percentage chances of the series results using an algorithm that takes into account the following factors:
- Stats for previous encounters between the two nations (both team and individual)
- Current form
- Betting odds
As per the results of the algorithm, Australia have been given a 64.9 percent chance of winning the Test series. India’s probability of winning the series is 23.4 percent and that of drawing, is 11.7 percent.

First Test Predictions
Perth’s Optus Stadium will be the site of the first Test and this has been a happy hunting ground for the Baggy Greens. Australia have won all four Tests they have played at this venue and that includes a win against India in 2018.
Pat Cummins led Australia are the top ranked side in Test cricket at the moment and our supercomputer favours them in the first Test. Their winning probability for this Test is 65.3 percent, compared to India’s 26.9 percent.

Top Scorer and Top Wicket Takers
The supercomputer also has given probabilities for the top run scorers and wicket takers for the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
When it comes to run scorers, the top three favourites are Australian batsmen – Steve Smith, Travis Head and Usman Khawaja. As per our supercomputer, the Indian batsman most favoured to be top run scorer is Virat Kohli, despite his well-publicised struggles at the crease this year.
