Reds to silence their critics
Reigning champions Liverpool have had to endure their fair share of criticism this season and they remain well out of the title race heading into the Christmas period.
The Reds are seventh, ahead of matchday 17, and they are 10 points behind league leaders Arsenal.
Arne Slot has had plenty of issues to deal with, none more so than the recent rant from Mohamed Salah, although the pair appeared to patch that up last weekend when the Egyptian played the majority of the 2-0 win over Brighton before heading to the Africa Cup of Nations.
For all the talk of Liverpool’s failures, they are unbeaten in five games and they have kept three clean sheets during that time.
Their 1-0 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League was a huge statement and they face a Spurs side who were thumped 3-0 by Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Most of Tottenham’s success this season has come on the road and Thomas Frank’s side have only won two of their eight league matches in front of their own fans.
Liverpool look like they could be heading to the capital a little under the radar and without the noise of Salah’s future, they look good value to win against an inconsistent Spurs team.
Drama on the cards in the capital
Tottenham and Liverpool have remained competitive in front of goal all season and both teams are in the top eight clubs for goals scored this season.
Liverpool have netted 26 goals already this season, while Spurs only trail them by one.
Games between the two clubs are often entertaining affairs and the last two meetings have contained a minimum of four goals. In fact, there have been at least three goals scored in 10 of the previous 12 fixtures between the two English giants.
Spurs have scored at least two goals in four of their last five home fixtures in all competitions, so while they should fall short, they should go down swinging.

Ekitike to continue fine recent form
In previous years, Salah’s AFCON participation was a big moment of worry for Liverpool as they were losing their talisman for at least a month.
This season has not followed that pattern, though, and his team-mates will likely welcome the chance to purely focus on results, rather than discuss his future.
Striker Hugo Ekitike has not been flustered in recent weeks and he has scored four goals in three games. Two braces have put him as the number one striker on Merseyside at present and he should be able to fire past Spurs’ fragile defence.
With Salah away and Cody Gakpo injured, Florian Wirtz should start in one of the forward spots and he can make his mark. The German has registered 24 shots this season, with seven of them coming in his last five outings.
Spurs winger Xavi Simons should once again cause issues for the opposition defence. He has won three free-kicks in each of his last three outings and should be able to draw more out of Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate.
