Travelers Championship tips & predictions
Scottie Scheffler, the defending champion after last year’s play-off win, is the hot favourite, while newly crowned US Open champion JJ Spaun joins the world No.1 in the Connecticut field.
River Highlands, a short par-70 measuring just 6,844 total yards, is a historic venue which was redesigned by legendary architect Pete Dye, who is responsible for TPC Sawgrass and Harbour Town Golf Links, among other courses. Given its lack of length, the course has proved easy prey for PGA Tour professionals over the last few seasons, with Jim Furyk carding a 58 at the track in 2016. Spieth a threat at a happy hunting ground
Scheffler has outstanding claims as he chases a fourth win in six starts, but the American superstar is appropriately priced, and it could pay to look elsewhere for value at River Highlands.
Another Travelers champion catches the eye in Jordan Spieth, who won this tournament on his debut in 2017 with a hole-out from a bunker in a play-off and looks underrated given his encouraging recent performances.
Spieth has not been a regular contender this year but, after undergoing wrist surgery in the autumn, he has made all but two cuts in 15 appearances in 2025, and finished seventh at the Memorial Tournament on his penultimate start.
The 31-year-old finished 23rd at the US Open on Sunday, a solid performance underpinned by a sharp effort with the irons, and he could be poised for a big week

Young could land an overdue victory
Cameron Young has demonstrated the ability to card a low score at TPC River Highlands, shooting a 59 in the third round of last season’s tournament before finishing ninth, and recent efforts suggest he is back to his best.
The New York native, who played the final 54 holes in 19 under par, finished seventh at the Truist Championship in early May, fourth at the Canadian Open three weeks ago, and fourth again at the US Open last week.
While Young remains a PGA Tour maiden, he is rediscovering the form that took him to a career-high 13th in the world last year. He has been driving the ball well over the last few weeks, and rolling in putts with regularity. A similar showing would surely make him a title threat.

Bhatia to blast off at lefty paradise
Bubba Watson (three times), Phil Mickelson (twice) and Dustin Johnson have all won at River Highlands, and another left-handed golfer could join them on the honours board on Sunday afternoon.
Akshay Bhatia missed the cut at the US Open last week, but he’d previously finished 22nd at the Charles Schwab Challenge and 16th at the Memorial Tournament, striking his irons well on both occasions.
