Premier League preview: Liverpool vs Arsenal – Sunday 4:30pm
Liverpool host Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday afternoon in the standout fixture of the weekend, with the champions arriving as the league’s best defence. Arsenal have conceded just five goals in eight league games, and they sit second on 21 points, six clear of fourth-placed Liverpool. Andoni Iraola’s side have won only one of their four home league matches this season, but they arrive in good spirits after a 2-0 win over Brighton and a midweek penalty shootout win over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.
Arsenal, meanwhile, were knocked out of that competition by League Two Fleetwood on penalties, and Mikel Arteta will want a quick response.
Team news could shape the contest. Arsenal will be without Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, with Riccardo Calafiori a doubt, while Liverpool are missing Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley, Jeremie Frimpong and Dominik Szoboszlai. That could leave Alexander Isak with a lot to do against the league’s best backline. A home win would cut the gap to three points, while an Arsenal victory would open up a nine-point lead and a real statement from the champions.
With so many key names missing, we’re expecting a tight contest where one moment of quality could decide it
