World Matchplay Darts Day 7 Betting Tips
Our betting expert has three tips for Friday night’s quarter-final action from the World Matchplay Darts in Blackpool (starts 8.00pm). Scroll down for the analysis behind his selections.
- Gerwyn Price to beat Josh Rock @ 8/11 with Betzone
- Andrew Gilding +5.5 vs Luke Littler @ 10/11 with Betano
- Andrew Gilding Over 6.5 180s vs Luke Littler @ 5/6 with bet365
Gezzy can edge spicy World Cup rematch
Gerwyn Price and Josh Rock, two real fighters in sizzling form, should lay on a scrap for the ages when they clash in their World Matchplay quarter-final on Friday night.
Price and Rock have lit up the Winter Gardens with their performances over the first two rounds and meet in great nick.
Rock, struggling for the last couple of years to live up to his potential, is finally blossoming.
But former world champion Price is a different level of opponent and the fiery Welshman can land the odds.
It’ll be a spicy affair because both players wear their hearts on their sleeves and also it’s their first meeting since the World Cup final which Northern Ireland won 10-9.
Price has already beaten Rock’s World Cup partner Daryl Gurney, a game that ended in an on-stage bust-up between the two men.
Rock criticised Price and gets his chance of payback on Gurney’s behalf after beating an off-form Ross Smith and erratic Michael van Gerwen to reach the last eight.
Price produced a 108.7 average, crushing Chris Dobey 11-3 in round two, and still looks as though he has gears to shift into.
Rock’s time will come – he looks like a future major winner. He may have to wait a little longer, though, with the Iceman poised to freeze him out on this occasion.

Gilding can push Nuke to the limit
Andrew Gilding and Luke Littler, who feature in the last quarter-final, have met twice on TV.
The first time was during Littler’s sensational run to the World Championship final on his debut just over 18 months ago. The Nuke won 3-1 in sets – tellingly, though, the legs score was just 9-8.
Their second televised tussle was at the European Championship last October when Gilding won 6-4 in a first-round encounter.
Now they meet again and while Littler has the tools to overpower anyone, he also has the temperament to suggest that isn’t always going to happen. And that makes him pretty unattractive at odds of around 1/8.
Indeed, this could get close with Gilding playing at his own leisurely, pedestrian pace, and one that might bother the youngster.
Littler was certainly bothered on Wednesday night in his game against Jermaine Wattimena, a second-round match he should have won effortlessly but finished up scraping through 13-11.
Gilding had earlier thumped Dirk van Duijvenbode 11-5 with a 100.5 average, his second ton-plus average in his two matches.
Gilding’s persona will always make him under-rated but he shouldn’t be. He has troubled Littler before – he can do so again.

Max out on a 180 masterclass from Goldfinger
Gilding has looked rock solid around the treble 20 bed this week and the unflappable Englishman can rack up his share of 180s against Littler.
Gilding hit 10 in his first match – a 12-10 win over Damon Heta – and another six during his 11-5 win over Van Duijvenbode.
The Matchplay quarter-finals are best-of-31 legs affairs, plenty of time for Gilding to pile in at least seven maximums.
