USA is the runner-up with an average age of 25.2 and the same applies for the USMNT – that they don’t have a player in the five youngest players participating in the World Cup.
In the top 10 there are big nations like Spain and England with respectively an average age of 26.2 and 26.4. These are also countries which have been told they have a golden generation, which seems to show off in this World Cup.
Iran Has The Oldest Team – Brazil And Argentina Are In The Top 5
Iran has the oldest national team at the World Cup with an average age of 28.9 but they actually don’t have a player in the five oldest players at the World Cup.
Brazil and Argentina have the third and the fourth oldest teams at the tournament with an average age of 27.88 (Brazil) and 27.92 (Argentina). Brazil actually has the third oldest player participating at the World Cup. Dani Alves is 39 years old and only two players are older than him.
Other big nations like Uruguay and Belgium are also in the top 10 and their teams have the exact same average age of 27.8.
Youngest Player – Youssoufa Moukoko
The Borussia Dortmund sensation is only 17 years old which makes him the youngest player to participate at this year’s World Cup.

Mexico’s Alfredo Tavalera is the oldest player competing at this year’s World Cup at the age of 40.

We used Transfermarkt as the source to find all the players that are participating in the World Cup. From there we scraped the players’ ages which in the end led us to the results of the youngest and the oldest teams.
