No.1 Ranked Horse Racing Betting Site – bet365
- Multiple BC UK Bookmaker Awards winner, including Best Bookmaker
- Attractive promos, including boosted odds & free games
bet365 are a bookmaking giant, and their high standards have been recognised at the Bookmaker Awards. They claimed awards such as Best Horse Racing Odds, Best User Experience, and Best Sports Bookmaker.
In the Horse Racing Odds category, the best odds were close, and bet365 didn’t have it all their own way. For example, while bet365 odds were industry leading for The Grand National, this wasn’t the case for the Cheltenham Festival, with Ladbrokes performing slightly better.
Despite Ladbrokes performing well for Cheltenham odds, bet365 failing to hit first spot for horse racing odds was rare. The Bookmaker Awards covered 85 additional race locations, including Punchestown, Chepstow and Epsom. These were monitored over the year and data revealed that bet365 came first in over 70 of the 85 races. Betfair were the next best, challenging bet365 on nine occasions. For example, at Ballinrobe both Betfair and Sky Bet had better odds, while at Ffos Las, Betfair and Paddy Power edged bet365 into third place.
Away from the odds, bet365 also impressed with their welcome offer and won the category at the Bookmaker Awards, beating the likes of Unibet, SBK, and 888sport to top spot. With a relatively small qualifying bet and minimal odds required compared to their competitors’ sign-up offers, there’s little area to fault bet365, especially when they offer a sizable amount in free bets.
Why They Rank First:
- Winner of the Best Horse Racing Odds Award
- Strongest welcome offer in the betting industry
- Best User Experience on their site and mobile app

About The Author – Jacob Potter
I’ve been engaged with online sports betting and horse racing for over a decade and have built a wealth of knowledge on the various betting platforms operating in the UK. Whether you’re into the betting giants, such as bet365, Sky Bet and William Hill, or prefer the newer sites, like BetMGM and talkSPORT BET, I’ve got you covered.
My time is often dedicated to meticulously scrutinising the differences between bookmakers and ensuring that the information I provide about the top betting sites is based on my first-hand experience as a seasoned bettor.
Within my content, you’ll find intricate details about each bookmaker. This includes their strengths and weaknesses, which is pulled from my in-depth usage and analysis of these betting platforms, alongside the data collected at the Bookmaker Awards.
Which Site Has The Best Horse Racing Odds?
bet365 have the best horse racing odds and came first at the UK Bookmaker Awards for the category, Best Horse Racing Odds. To win this category, the site needed to perform well across all horse racing meetings across the UK, including smaller meets such as Ludlow and Huntingdon, and major events such as the Cheltenham Festival and Ascot. Data was collected over the year and an average score was formulated to declare the winner.
That’s not to say that bet365 had it all their own way. Ladbrokes and 888sport came a close second and third in the same category, whilst Unibet and Sky Bet make up the top-five. For events such as Cheltenham, Ladbrokes showcased the best odds and when collecting data for meets such as Ludlow and Plumpton, Betfair performed better.
Bookmaker | Award Ranking |

bet365 | 1st |
Ladbrokes | 2nd |
888Sport | 3rd |
Unibet | 4th |

What Is The Best Horse Racing Betting App?
The best horse racing betting app is from bet365, who scored highly in the Best User Experience category at the UK Bookmaker Awards. The award is broken down into three subcategories and also contains Live Streaming and Ease of Use.
bet365 edged out William Hill and Betway in the Mobile App subcategory and also topped the list for streaming. They missed out on top spot in Ease Of Use with sites such as Sky Bet and Unibet pushing themselves into the top five and 32Red claiming first place.
From our first-hand experience, we’ve found the bet365 app easy to use. We rarely struggle to find what we’re looking for and can always bet on specific horse racing meets with little effort. The only downside, for us, is that to watch a live stream, you’ll need to have made a bet within 24 hours of the race taking place and have funds in your account. This isn’t required on all sites.

Overall Best Sports Bookmaker
Once again, it’s bet365 dominating. They came first in both the Best Sports Bookmaker and Players Choice categories at the UK Bookmaker Awards. The Best Sports Bookmaker award is a cumulative score based on all categories and the Players Choice is voted for directly by the punters taking part in the large-scale surveys.
Not only did bet365 win multiple awards, but they also performed well in all but one of the other categories, only slipping to 17th place for Customer Service. Competing sites showed a better response time and gained better scores on both Live Chat and Email.
As an overall site, we agree with the awards data and it matches our own experiences using the site. They have an eye-catching sign-up offer, which can be used on horse racing, have an app we use regularly and continue to impress us with odds boosts and existing customer offers. It’s the second year running that bet365 have won the Overall Best Betting Site award and as it stands, we can see them making it a hat trick next year.

Top 10 UK Horse Racing Betting Sites
1. bet365
- Multiple BC UK Bookmaker Awards winner, including Best Bookmaker
- Attractive promos, including boosted odds & free games
With bet365 winning five out of the ten available awards at the UK Bookmaker Awards, including Best Horse Racing Odds, it’s unsurprising to hear that they’re the best horse racing betting site.
First off, they have an award-winning welcome offer available to use on horse racing. Subcategories in the Best Welcome Offer award were based on bonus amounts, free bets expiry and minimum odds, among others. And while bet365 doesn’t offer the most in free bets, it did lead the way in other categories as they don’t include an expiry, and match the top betting sites for wagering requirements. The likes of William Hill, Sky Bet, Unibet, and Paddy Power all require you to wager your funds on a qualifying bet that has a higher minimum odds.
They also won an award for Best User Experience, which takes into account their mobile app, live streaming service, and ease of use. Unlike football, horse racing isn’t always accessible to watch, and having a site which streams the meets in quality makes it a well-deserved winner.

Why Sign Up At bet365?
- Best horse racing odds in the betting industry
- Best Overall Sports Bookmaker at Bookmaker Awards
2. Sky Bet
- Reliable bookmaker for all
- Easy to use mobile app
Despite not winning an award, Sky Bet came in third for the overall Best Sports Bookmaker in the UK Bookmaker awards. Their cumulative score across all categories helped them climb into third place with a fifth-placed finish in the Best Horse Racing Odds category and a second-place finish in Best User-Experience.
They also have some great existing customer promotions, which didn’t feature in this year’s awards. These include their loyalty program, best odds guaranteed, extra places, and enhanced odds. These promotions are also in place ahead of notable horse racing events such as the Cheltenham Festival, Royal Ascot, and the Grand National.
Sky Bet also has a great RequestABet feature, which allows punters to request certain things to happen during a race. This is an impressive feature and was available for the Cheltenham Festival a long way in advance. When checking the site, we saw Popular Ante Post RequestABets available in November. These are also nicely broken down by odds. For example, if you’re looking for large odds, everything available to RequestABet over 80/1 is in one place.
If you’re looking to sign up, find out all the latest information on our page dedicated to the Sky Bet welcome offer.
Why Sign Up At Sky Bet?
- Great loyalty program available
- Specials betting markets during Cheltenham Festival.
3. Ladbrokes
- Early payouts with 2up&win
- Well established name you can trust
Ladbrokes came second to bet365 for Best Horse Racing Odds at the UK Bookmaker Awards. And while bet365 topped Ladbrokes for most Horse Racing meets, Ladbrokes showed why they’re ranked so highly with the best odds for the Cheltenham Festival.
They also came within the top three for the Best Banking Options. This category is broken down into two sections, deposit and withdrawal methods. For deposit options, Ladbrokes were one of the best, matched only by Coral. While their withdrawal options saw them finish in the top five, behind Coral, bet365 and Sportingbet. From our experience, one reason for their stellar performance in this category is the Ladbrokes Grid, a brand-specific rewards card that can be used across both online and in-store.
Other horse racing features we like are the Build Your Own Racecard and their stake back if your horse finishes second or third. The first of the two features lets players select which races they like and builds a page with your selections. It’s a simple tool, but it makes it a lot easier and clearer. The second gives punters free bets or cash back if their selection finishes just off first place. However, this is only available on selected races.

Why Sign Up At Ladbrokes?
- Best odds for the Cheltenham Festival
- Build Your Own Racecard feature
4. William Hill
- Reliable Bookmaker
- Plenty of promotions accessible
Ranking William Hill at number five won’t come as a surprise to many. Not only were they placed in the same position in the Overall Best Bookmaker category at the Bookmaker Awards, they also came in second for the Players Choice award. They’re a must for Horse Racing and cover a wide range of Horse Racing markets, such as the distance in which a horse will win a race. Something not all bookmakers provide.
Not only this, but William Hill also offers enhanced odds, extra places, #YourOdds (something that some other bookmakers don’t offer their bettors) and Epic Boost, which is offered every week on horse racing.
Find out how to get more from the William Hill bonus code.
Why Sign Up At William Hill?
- #YourOdds feature allows punters to have markets priced up.
- Insight provided on runners in UK & Irish races.
5. Unibet
- Excellent racing product including BOG
- One of the most attractive sign-up offers
Unibet performed well in this year’s Bookmaker awards, finishing in the top five for several awards. Their highest achievement was coming in second for Best Sports Bookmaker and second for Best Welcome Offer. But they’re on this list due to their performance in the Horse Racing Odds category, where they finished fourth.
Despite Unibet struggling to compete with bet365 for Horse Racing odds, they came closer in the User Experience category, finishing third behind the betting giants and Sky Bet. In fact, within the subcategory ‘Ease Of Use’ Unibet beat bet365 and came second, only behind 32Red. Having used the site, we can see why they performed well. Their site is easy to navigate and their app, while not the best, is up there as one of our favourites. In their Horse Racing section, they also include racing tips, backed up by specialised insights, to help make an educated pick.
Why Sign Up At Unibet?
- Ranked highly as second-best sports bookmaker at the UK Bookmaker Awards
- Racing tips section provides bettors with insight
6. Betfair
- Great Odds & Cash Out feature
- High quality on live-streaming service
Like Paddy Power, Betfair set the bar high with their horse racing coverage. They don’t feature too much at the Bookmaker Awards, but that doesn’t mean they’re not deserving of a place within our top ten best horse racing sites.
While they didn’t compete with their odds for the major horse racing events, Betfair are one of the only betting sites to continuously rival bet365 on the smaller horse racing meets. For example, below are the events where Betfair performed better for horse racing odds, as revealed by the Bookmaker Awards data:
- Ballinrobe
- Wexford
- Uttoxeter
- Ludlow
- Huntingdon
- Windsor
- Plumpton
- Leicester
Betfair also came fifth for their mobile app. Through the app you can access their live streaming service, which includes horse racing events. You’ll need to place a bet on the selected horse racing meeting that you want to watch live.
It’s worth keeping an eye out for daily racing specials on Betfair, as they can provide existing customers with extra value for their money. Some of these specials include extra places and acca boosts. The extra places promotion provides punters with more chance of their each-way bets being placed, as if more places are paid out on a specific race, then the greater the chance bettors will have of their selected horse finishing in the ‘places’. The Best Odds Guaranteed promotion is also available to horse racing bettors on Betfair, which gives punters the chance to get the best possible odds on their horse racing selections for race meetings in the UK and Ireland. If they’ve placed a bet from 8 am onwards on the day of a race, regardless of whether the odds of their selected horse shortens or drifts by the time of a race, you’ll be paid out at the highest possible odds available on Betfair.
Discover more on their offer using our page for the Betfair promo code.
Why Sign Up At Betfair?
- Impressive live-streaming service
- Acca boosts available on horse racing
7. Coral
- Free-to-play football and racing predictors
- Part-own a horse with Coral Racing Club
They may not have won at the Bookmaker Awards, but they came mighty close. And that’s why they’re listed in our top ten horse racing betting sites.
To begin with, they finished fourth overall in the Best Sports Bookmaker category. For this, points were combined across multiple categories with Coral finishing well in Best Welcome Offer and Banking, where they came fifth and second respectively. Only Sportingbet finished higher in Banking and their deposit and withdrawal methods such as Google Pay, Coral Connect, and cash, helped them beat off sites such as Ladbrokes and Unibet.
Coral is also a great site to join for existing customer offers. They have daily specials on the majority of race meetings, which is more coverage than plenty of other horse racing betting sites. They also had an exclusive free bet offer celebrating the one year anniversary of their Coral Racing Club. It may have only been a £1 free bet, but it’s the little things that help them onto our list of best sites for horse racing.
Why Sign Up At Coral?
- Great sign-up offer
- Exclusive existing customer offers for horse racing
8. Paddy Power
- Horse Racing Specialist
- User-friendly website and app
Paddy Power are a horse racing specialist and comes in at number six. While they didn’t win any awards at the Bookmaker Awards this year, they finished fifth in the Players Choice category. An award voted for directly by the punters taking part in the focus groups and surveys.
From our own experience, the Irish-based bookie has some great betting markets available on horse racing. Especially on notable events such as the Cheltenham Festival. This can include markets such as Top Jockey, Top Trainer, and how many wins a certain jockey will win at the festival during the week. It’s these types of betting markets which aren’t available with the majority of leading bookmakers.
They also have some popular free-to-play games which can include race meetings, such as the ever-popular Beat The Drop. This game gives you a question with a yes or no answer, and you can decide whether to split the £5,000 jackpot on both answers to give yourself a better chance of winning some of the cash if you reach the later stages of the game.
Looking to sign up with Paddy Power? Head over to our page dedicated to the Paddy Power sign up offer and learn how to qualify.
Why Sign Up At Paddy Power?
- Fifth in the Players Choice Award
- Beat The Drop is one of our favourite existing customer games
9. Betano
- New to the UK betting scene, and set to make a big impression
- Partnering with BVGroup, so customers benefit from bet builders & odds boosts
Betano are a relatively new betting site who have started to gain some popularity for what you can do on their betting site and specifically what you can do on their betting site when it comes to horse racing.
In terms of horse racing, Betano has plenty of promotions available on the sport, including Bet Boosts and Lucky Dips, which provides punters with an unique way of betting by randomly selecting a horse for you and generating random odds, giving you the chance to win more than you could if you selected a specific horse for selected races. They also provide a very good new customer offer specifically to horse racing, which sees you able to receive up to £40 in free bets if you sign up and place a £40 bet.
Betano also has some great variety on the horse racing markets that you can bet on with the bookmakers. The horse racing betting markets available at Betano are:
- Outright winner
- To win by distance
- To place
- Bet boost
- Without the favourite
Why Sign Up At Betano?
- Wide variety of horse racing betting markets
- Boosted odds on selected horse races
10. Tote
- Brand new sportsbook launched, offering far more than just horse racing
- Benefit from the unique Tote dividend as an alternative to normal fixed odds betting
Tote is a pool-based betting service, in which dividends are paid to winning bets. If a horse has been backed by few people, including yourself, and it goes on to win, then you’ll receive a larger payout.
Due to Tote being a pool-based betting service, they aren’t included within the UK Bookmaker Awards, as it’s unfair to compare them to some of the so-called ‘big names’ in the betting industry. However, we can touch upon our experience, having used the site for a few years.
The Tote Guarantee is similar to that of the Best Odds Guaranteed promotion you’d see on a sportsbook with other betting sites. The Tote Guarantee means that your bets will be paid out at the SP (starting price) as a minimum, and if the Tote dividend is greater, then the bettor will be paid out at that price.
They also have a great customer service team and we were impressed with the response time we had in regards to our query. We found that their live chat feature was the most reliable in terms of a response time, with a dedicated agent solving our query in a matter of minutes. Whereas a response via email took understandably longer, with more agents seemingly waiting to respond to any queries via live chat.
Why Sign Up At Tote?
- Pool-based betting service
- Strong sign-up offer
Who is the Best UK Horse Racing Betting Site for the major Festivals?
Cheltenham Festival
The best betting sites for the Cheltenham Festival will depend on what you’re looking for. Are you looking to get more free bets? The best odds? A wide selection of markets? There’s a lot to consider.
For offers, we recommend bet365. Not only do they have an award winning welcome offer, but they also list a wide variety of existing customer offers during the event. They have the Cheltenham Festival Racing Value. Meaning that early prices and disqualified horses will be paid out.
For best odds, bet365 topped the overall list on horse racing, but that wasn’t the case for Cheltenham. Using the Bookmaker Awards data we can reveal that Ladbrokes gave punters the best odds. While they couldn’t compete with bet365 overall, they raised their game for Cheltenham. Boylesports came in third but were a fair way from the top two.
For more on this popular event, check our page dedicated to Cheltenham betting offers.
Grand National
bet365 are the ideal place to head to for the best betting odds for the Grand National, which won’t come as much of a surprise to hear for us, as this bookmaker won the award for Best Horse Racing Odds at the UK Bookmaker Awards. bet365 dominate the majority of horse racing events in terms of the odds they’re offering, as they’re often covering the best value for money with the horse racing selections involved in each race, which includes in the Grand National.
It’s also worth remembering that some of the most popular betting sites remove their standard welcome offer for new customers in the build-up to some major horse racing events such as the Grand National, so be sure to check back on MyBettingSites, as we’ll be updating these page frequently with horse racing betting offers that are available on the time of your visit to our site.
The likes of 888sport, Sky Bet, and Unibet are also worthy of a mention for the Grand National in terms of the competitiveness of the odds they’re offering their bettors, and with sites that have a modern layout, making it easy for you to find everything you’ll need ahead of this event, there’s little room to fault them either.
If you’re looking to find the latest free bets, check out our page dedicated to Grand National betting offers.
Royal Ascot
Royal Ascot takes place in June every year, and is another hugely popular event of racing action in the calendar. bet365 is the place to be for the best horse racing odds on Royal Ascot, as with data drawn together for the UK Bookmaker Awards, they came out on top ahead of the likes of Betfred, Unibet, and 32Red.
For Champions Day at Royal Ascot, bet365 are again top of the pile when it comes to the horse racing odds they’re offering their customers, with the likes of BetVictor, Betfred, William Hill, and Unibet closely following behind them on this specific day of racing action. For the best Royal Ascot betting offers, head over to our dedicated page.
How to choose the Best UK Horse Racing Betting Site
Horse Racing Markets
Betting markets aren’t as important when it comes to horse racing compared to football. The standard horse racing betting markets are available with the majority of leading betting sites, which includes win and place markets.
That being said, there are different types of bets you can place to help boost your odds. These include a Yankee, Canadian, and Lucky 15 to name a few. ZetBet finished top of the pile at the for Best Market Selection at the Bookmaker Awards, as they fought off competition from the likes of William Hill and bet365 to win this award.
- For a closer look at the explanations of betting odds and more in-depth information on this, head over to our dedicated page.
Horse Racing Odds
Odds are one of the most important things to consider when it comes to choosing the right horse racing betting site. The best sites will offer value for money within the odds and give punters the chance to use boosts. If your regular bookmaker offers you shorter odds than another betting site, then it might be worth considering moving. Not only this, popular promotions which can influence betting odds include Best Odds Guaranteed, which is available to new and existing customers with the majority of leading betting sites. If your chosen bookmaker doesn’t offer promotions such as this, then it’s well-worth moving to a different site for horse racing betting.
bet365 came out on top in the Best Horse Racing Odds category at the UK Bookmaker Awards, which came to that conclusion after looking at data from meetings taking place at various different meetings across England, which includes Cheltenham, Aintree, and Ascot, which are particular highlights of the racing calendar.
Horse Racing Existing Customer Offers
Existing customer offers are equally as important as the competitiveness of odds. The best horse racing betting sites will have a range of existing customer offers including Best Odds Guaranteed, extra places, enhanced odds and loyalty programs. For example, if you’re with Sky Bet they have the Sky Bet club, which includes free bets specifically for horse racing. When you bet over £30 in a week, Sky Bet will issue a two £3 racing acca free bets to use as you choose.
Another example of an existing customer offer for horse racing is with Coral, who have the Extra Places Every Day feature. While this is only on specific races, it gives punters an improved chance of a return. For example, 1/5 the odds 1-2-3-4 (enhanced from 1/4 the odds 1-2-3).
Horse Racing Live Streaming
Most betting sites now offer live streaming for many horse races, especially for the races in the UK and Ireland. The best horse racing betting sites will have live streaming available for most of the races that you can bet on. Their live streaming services will also be in the best quality, with HD available, and will also not buffer or freeze during the race.
Sky Bet, Paddy Power and bet365, as well as a host of other UK bookmakers, offer live streaming on their betting sites. You will be able to tune into the live stream a few minutes before the race starts on all the good horse racing betting sites. Some bookmakers will only allow you to live stream the race if you have placed a bet on the race you want to watch, so this is something to look out for.
Banking
The best horse racing betting sites will have you covered with a range of deposit and withdrawal methods, many of which won’t be available with some of their bookmaking competitors. Not only this, you’ll also want a betting site that has relatively fast withdrawal times that are in line with other bookmakers in the betting industry.
Sportingbet set the bar high on this front, as they have you covered with a strong depth of banking options, which includes Visa Debit, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Trustly, Apple Pay, and much more. Sportingbet claimed top spot in the award for Best Banking Options at the UK Bookmaker Awards, as they beat bookmaking heavyweights such as Sky Bet, Coral, Ladbrokes, and Unibet into winning this one.
Best New Horse Racing Betting Sites
BetMGM
- Welcome offer gives new customers more free bets than most
- Profit boosts and free football predictors are part of a host of attractive offers
If you’re looking for a strong sign-up offer then BetMGM could be the ideal betting site. They’re offering their new customers £40 in free bets when they deposit and wager funds of just £10 on a betting market that has minimum odds of 1/1 (2.0). Regardless of the outcome of that qualifying bet, you’ll be credited with the free bets. They’re a relatively new betting site compared to most of the names you’ll see featuring in the UK Bookmaker Awards, but don’t be surprised to see them involved in the 2024 event, as they’ve got plenty of positives to shout about.
Final Word
The data provided to us by the UK Bookmaker Awards has shown that bet365 are top of the pile on most fronts, which is something that experts at MyBettingSites will agree with. The best horse racing betting sites have great betting odds, an easy to use site, impressive market selection, and eye-catching existing customer offers, which is something that bet365 certainly has you covered with.
The likes of Sky Bet, Ladbrokes, and Unibet are also worthy of a mention as some of the best horse racing betting sites, as they also ranked highly in the majority of categories at this year’s UK Bookmaker Awards.
FAQ
Each punter will have their own preference as to what their preferred type of bet for horse racing is. Singles, doubles, and accumulators are often popular around big events such as the Cheltenham Festival and Grand National, but Lucky 15’s and Goliath’s can also see potential for sizeable profit if you’re lucky enough to win on all the selections included in that type of bet.
Place betting in horse racing means that if your selected horse places within the ‘places’, you’ll see a return of some funds if you’ve bet on them to place, or you’ve placed an each-way bet on that horse. The places in each race depend on how many runners are involved, so make sure you read the terms and conditions on each race in regards to place betting.
With data collected from the UK Bookmaker Awards, bet365 and BoyleSports are the best betting sites to use for live streaming of horse racing. They have a range of events you can watch via a live stream, and with high quality live streaming, there’s little room to fault these two bookmakers in particular.
There are lots of good betting sites for horse racing, but with our personal experiences, as well as data collected from the UK Bookmaker Awards, bet365 are currently the place to go for horse racing betting. They have a range of horse racing events you can bet on, including races from the UK, Ireland and also across the globe. They also have a free-to-play game for some of the big horse racing events, in which you can win a lot of money for correctly predicting the winners of selected races.
Sometimes in horse racing it is better to go for an each-way bet, instead of a win bet. This sees you back a horse to win or place in the race. Typically, to win some money back in an each-way bet, the horse has to finish in the top 3 positions. Some of the bigger races, like the Grand National, will pay out on 6 or 7 places. An each-way can be argued to be the smartest bet as it gives you more security than relying on a horse to just win the race.
