Who Is The Favourite To Win The Grand National 2025?
The favourite to win the 2025 Grand National is I Am Maximus, with Stumptown and Iroko also seen as favourites to win the race. I Am Maximus was the favourite after they came storming home in last year’s Grand National to win the event at Aintree, and this horse is still well-fancied to win again at the Grand National.
Iroko and Stumptown are serious contenders for the 2025 Grand National, and it’ll be interesting to see if they can beat I Am Maximus or Intense Raffles. Intense Raffles was the favourite, but they have recently dropped down the pecking order. Other horses amongst the favourites at bet365 include Hewick and Vanillier. I Am Maximus Grand National Form Analysis
I Am Maximus has shown top glimpses of their quality in recent years and is rightly one of the favourites to win the 2025 Grand National. Having won this event last year after a hugely impressive finish to the race, this horse will be tough to beat once again.
Stumptown
Age | 8 |
Trainer | Gavin Cromwell |
Odds | 10/1 |

Stumptown Grand National Form Analysis
Stumptown is a real horse to watch in the 2025 Grand National, and is in good form. The horse won the Glenfarclas Crystal Cup Cross Country Handicap Chase at Cheltenham in December 2024 and also won the Cross Country Chase at the 2025 Cheltenham Festival. They are more than capable of challenging for the win at the 2025 Grand National if a similar level can be replicated.
Iroko

Odds | 15/2 |
Previous Grand National form | Not run before |

Iroko Grand National Form Analysis
Iroko hasn’t run in the Grand National before, but the 7-year-old is more than capable of challenging for the win here. Iroko has won at Warwick and Cheltenham in the past, whilst also finishing second at Aintree, Kel and Haydock most recently.
Hewick

Trainer | John Joseph Hanlon |
Odds | 10/1 |
Previous Grand National form | Not run before |
Recent form | 232571 |
Prize Money | £568,567 |

Hewick Grand National Form Analysis
Hewick comes in the 2025 Grand National fresh off the back of a win in the Jimmy Neville Memorial Hurdle at Thurles in March. The horse weighs well for this race and is starting to get heavily backed with the race only a few days away. With the horse also placing in four of their last six races, we are not shocked to see Hewick a favourite.
Vanillier
Age | 10 |
Trainer | Gavin Cromwell |
Odds | 12/1 |
Previous Grand National form | 14th in 2024, 2nd in 2023 |
Recent form | P6913 |
Prize Money | £85,441 |
Grand National 2025 Weight | 10st 6lbs |
Vanillier Grand National Form Analysis
Vanillier is a strong contender for the 2025 Grand National following a solid season. He secured second place in the 2023 race and a disappointing 14th place in 2024 but has regained form in 2025, most recently winning at Punchestown and finishing third in the Cheltenham Cross Country Chase. The third place finish in the Cheltenham Cross Country Chase was very good as the horse actually went the wrong way near the start of the race and was in last, but managed to regain their confidence and finish well. His consistent form suggests he could be a serious challenger for the win.
Intense Raffles
Age | 7 |
Trainer | Thomas Gibney |
Odds | 12/1 |
Previous Grand National form | Not run before |
Recent form | 11902 |
Prize Money | £298,233 |
Grand National 2025 Weight | 10st 10lbs |
Intense Raffles Grand National Form Analysis
It’ll be interesting to see whether Intense Raffles can keep up their hugely impressive form in the back end of last season, as they had a hat-trick of wins at Fairyhouse, which caught the eye for all the right reasons. Bryony Frost struggled to get the best out of this horse at Navan recently though, having finished ninth in that race as a 16/1 shot.
Latest odds are correct as of 9:30am, Saturday 5th April 2025. Odds are subject to change.

Corach Rambler was the bookies’ favourite in last year’s race at Aintree, and lived up to the hype with an impressive win. That was the first time a favourite has won the Grand National since 2020, with Tiger Roll winning in that year.
Below, you’ll find a table of how the last nine favourites have fared.
Year | Favourite’s Name | Starting Odds | Where did they finish? |
2024 | I Am Maximus | 7/1 | 1st |
2023 | Corach Rambler | 8/1 | 1st |
2022 | Any Second Now | 15/2 | 2nd |
2021 | Cloth Cap | 11/2 | Pulled up |
2020 | Tiger Roll | 4/1 | 1st |
2019 | Total Recall | 7/1 | Pulled up |
2018 | Blaklion | 8/1 | 4th |
2017 | Many Clouds & The Last Samuri | 8/1 | 2nd & 16th |
2016 | Shutthefrontdoor | 6/1 | 5th |

The 2025 Grand National will take place on Saturday 5th April 2025. The huge event, which takes place at Aintree every year, will attract fans from across the world.
Since 2024, there was a rule change which meant up to 34 runners could race in the Grand National. It used to be a larger number but they reduced it for safety reasons.
The betting offers, for both new and existing customers, will typically vary depending on what bookmaker you are looking to bet with. Best Odds Guaranteed, Extra Places and money back specials will all be available. There should also be many bookmakers who run the non-runner-no-bet promotion.
Over the last 10 years, favourites have had a mixed bag of results at the Grand National, with only three favourites winning the race in the last 10 races.
