Premier League preview
The Premier League returns this week, with one of the highlights being Chelsea vs Tottenham. Use our match preview to point you in the right direction when it comes to using your free bets from Kwiff.
Chelsea vs Tottenham (Saturday 5:30pm)
Chelsea host Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening in a London derby between two sides heading in very different directions. Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea sit fourth in the Premier League with 13 points from seven games and have won their last two matches, while Roberto De Zerbi’s Spurs are down in 16th, seven points behind their rivals.
Tottenham finally picked up their first league win of the season at the seventh attempt, beating newly-promoted Coventry 3-1 on Monday, and they’ll be hoping that sparks a turnaround. However, they face a tough task with a long injury list, as Lucas Bergvall and Savinho are both out, and Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended. Dejan Kulusevski’s return from injury is a welcome boost, although he’s unlikely to start.
Chelsea have their own problems in goal, with Emiliano Martinez out for several weeks after fracturing his jaw against Everton. Young Belgian goalkeeper Mike Penders is set to make his full Premier League debut, which could give Spurs some hope, especially with Reece James also sidelined.
History is firmly on Chelsea’s side, though, as they’ve won 18 of the last 30 meetings and beat Spurs 2-1 when the sides last met in May. With four of the last five meetings decided by a single goal, this should be another tight and fascinating derby on Saturday evening.
